Kitchen Sink IS a sleeper. When he finally screams "Don't leave me alone" after repeating leave me alone throughout the song hits me HARD. He perfectly described the feeling of depression and loneliness in that one line. You want everything to stop and everyone to leave you alone because dealing with it all is painful. But in the same breath, it is just as scary to be alone with your thoughts and have no one there to help you.

The main and basically only difference between the songs here and on vessel, is that these are demos. there's no real drums, it's all made by tyler on his computer. Vessel are the final versions of those songs. When doing regional at best, the other two og members (chris salih/drums and nick thomas/bass) left the band. Josh joined a lil before this record was done. Kitchen sink features tyler's brother Zack. Be concerned features a guy named Jocef, a guy tyler went to college with.

@jiplugpumelonnai91993 жыл бұрын
Josh was in the band, but Tyler recorded it on his own, and programmed the drums. Nick and Chris were around for the early conceptualization of RAB. Car Radio and Trees are among the songs that were written and played prior to Josh joining. TLDR: RAB has only Tyler on it
@athanasiospapadopoulos65823 жыл бұрын
@@jiplugpumelonnai9199 thanks for clearing that up. I always thought that Nick and Chris worked on Regional at Best with Tyler, but left before they released it, and then Josh joined shortly thereafter.
@ethanp13483 жыл бұрын
Why was this scrapped? Well, Tyler self-released and produced this and the Self-Titled album before being signed to Fueled By Ramen. When signing, part of the deal allowed him to keep the distribution rights to one of their albums for himself. He chose to keep the Self-Titled, presumably because it's more personal to him (though I can't say for certain), and gave RAB's rights to the label. FBR took the album down before Vessel released, and I assume that's because half the songs are on Vessel, and they didn't want to take away from that album's sales. There are rumors that they'll officially re-release this album for the tenth anniversary next month, but there've been rumors of that before, so don't count on it. Also, Be Concerned featured rapper wasn't one of his brothers, but his friend from college called Jocef. Tyler's also featured on one of his songs called Live, and there's a song they made together as a college project called Dollhouse about a play they read in their theatre class.

It's cool that you checked this out! It's kind of the forgotten stepchild of twenty one pilots' albums, but a lot of people in the fan base love it because it was the first album of theirs they started touring on outside of Ohio (hence the name lol!) Also, this album was done almost exclusively by Tyler (instruments and production) with some help on production from the old drummer in the band. Josh came into the band right as it was finished and was the one who played the songs live. It was made right as the older members (Chris Salih and Nick Thomas) left and Josh joined. (They actually have a web series titled Regional At Best following them touring this album on their KZbin channel). Finally, I have seen a couple people mention you should react to the "album" No Phun Intended. I know a lot of fans love it, but I think it is important to know that this isn't a real album. Only 6 tracks from it were released with permission from the artist. The others have been uploaded by other people who for what ever reason had a copy. The 'track listing' is just a collection of bootlegged songs and even the songs that Tyler originally uploaded were eventually taken down by him.

There’s not supposed to be any structural difference between the regional at Best versions and vessel versions. For guns for hands, they reused the exact same vocals for the vessel version, but they mixed it way better. It’s the same exact song though. For holding on to you, they also used the same vocals, but remixed everything. It’s still the same exact song in essence though. For ode to sleep, it’s the same song structure, but on Regional at best, it’s slightly slower, and the vocals are much different. They re recorded and used totally new sounds and vocals for the Vessel version. For Car Radio, the song structure is again the exact same song as vessel. This one was just completely re recorded for vessel. And then Trees is the most obviously different, because the regional at Best version was auto tuned, but the vessel version wasn’t. So if you put each version together, you can obviously tell the difference between them all.
