I have wondered at British Russophobia, it seems even more extreme than American. I think you touched on it : it stems from Britain's small and insignificant world influence and power. The British have had a resentment since 1945. After WW2, they found their status and power had gone, and the Soviet Union was the superpower. They could not come to terms with it. In the 1956 Suez crisis where Britain, France and Israel invaded Egypt, the Soviet Union forced a climb down with the threat of nuclear strikes on Britaina and France. Eisenhower looked the other way and did not want to get involved, and he asked the British to get out as well. It was a big humiliation for Anthony Eden's government. Since then I think the British have this grudge against Soviet Union and Russia. But as you say, the British are insignificant, they shot themselves in the foot with Brexit, and they have hitched themselves to a declining superpower. They are reduced to delusional channels like Times Radio which boasts about how their missiles are going to make Ukraine defeat Russia.

Your first analyst was pretty good, but he or you because he lacked time, neglected to mention that while China does import 2mbd from Russia at reduced prices, overall they import 11mbd, the remainder largely from the Middle East Sultanates, mainly Iran and Saudi Arabia, sworn enemies, with a long and vulnerable supply chain which China cannot well protect. Yet China is slow walking a new pipeline from Russia. Yet trying to do a pipeline through Pakistan's oil terminals through difficult geopolitical terrain.
