Personally feel it’s irrelevant to be talking about the husbands career. Regardless of whom he is, this is a huge tragedy and his wife and two daughters have been the victims of a serious crime. Surely, this should be the focus. I feel more heartache for him as a man who’s lost his family than what he does and his personality type. It’s tragic. Please let’s not make this about people’s accolades and achievements, but about the victims who suffered horribly and the trauma that the husband and his daughter will now have to live with.

So, so tragic. When you really try to put yourself in those shoes it feels impossible to understand how you find the energy to go on after something like this. It also makes me think about how we get overwhelmed and desensitized by similar events of loss around the world. Seeing families destroyed in Gaza, hearing about Uighur Muslims in China, thousands of Ukrainian deaths at Putin's hands and various conflicts around the world where non-combatants are being killed. On the legal front I'm an archer. I shoot traditional American Flat Bows. Essentially bendy stick, pointy stick, string. It takes years to get proficient and is an extremely rewarding hobby. Crossbows in contrast you could most likely learn to shoot in an afternoon. As with all things we would like the freedom to continue our hobby with as little interference as possible, and that's what it is to every archer I've ever met, a hobby. Having said that I do think that with crossbows in particular there should be some controls as they seem to be being used as an easy access weapon by some idiots. Both of my bows have unique serial numbers as I believe do all bows. I'd like people to understand that archery in general is a gentle hobby and the people I've met at proper archery clubs have been responsible, careful members of the public who wouldn't dream of hurting a soul. If it came down to it, for the public good and we had to register our bows I wouldn't have a problem with that. But crossbows definitely need tighter controls, as anyone can buy one and become proficient with it almost immediately, and unlike traditional archers or olympic archers who have to commit hundreds of hours just to become fairly reasonable. Crossbows in short, can be more easily used for nefarious purposes and seem in some cases to attract those that want a simple to use, "Projectile weapon," rather than hobbyist archers who just love the sport. My heart goes out to this poor family. So sad, so needless.
