As a former carer myself, the girl that stole from the elderly lady is despicable. Through illness or age people are forced to accept virtual strangers into their home to perform the most intimate tasks- it's an appalling betrayal of trust to take advantage of that.

My brother's ex-wife went over to his house and was banging on the door wanting to see their son even though it was his weekend to have custody. Even though she had been told by the court and the police she could not go to my brother's house when he had custody of their son. She kept beating until my brother called the police. After the police and fire department showed up she said she had cut her foot or something of the sort. A few days later the police show up to arrest my brother for assault. She went home after banging on the door that day and applied makeup to her face to look as if she had been in a fight with Rocky Balboa, yeah it looked that bad. She took pictures and showed them to the police and that's why they arrested my brother. She also had a digital audio recorder and recorded her beating on the door and then screamed for my brother to stop beating her. On the recording, it sounded terrible like she was really being beaten. My brother never touched her and never opened the door. When it went to court she got on the stand and cried and told the courtroom what took place. When it was my brother's turn he wheeled in a 65-inch flatscreen tv with a DVD player. What she didn't know was that my brother had installed cameras to record every aspect of his property due to vandalism on his truck. Well, the cameras captured everything that day, her beating on the door and screaming for him to stop beating her and her screaming for help all while her current husband was standing at the bottom of the stairs leading up to the front door and watching everything. And the video clearly showed that my brother never opened the door, never went outside, and never hit her. The case was dismissed and I think she got charged with filing a false report to the police. IF not for the camera and the video evidence my brother very well might have gone to jail.

What an evil POS. The sad thing is that a thing like her has a child. Nobody who behaves like that and falsely accuses someone should have any kind of time alone with a child. The way to deal with these things is a long prison sentence. When people know that the consequences are hard they may reconsider their disgusting behaviour.

There were certainly criminal offences committed, but much of this is a civil matter, rather than a criminal one. As such, it is nothing to do with the police. It's easy to blame the police, but they are hamstrung by an ineffective criminal justice system. That is where the problem lies.

I’ve been watching the shows from the UK for a few months now. I like the ones with the CCTV footage as it helps law enforcement catch criminals and to prove/disapprove allegations. I was surprised by the amount of residents now using CCTV. I feel bad for the older couple having to deal with that neighbor. I was glad that in the end they were able to restart their life. Too bad they have to wear a body camera to do so. Now the term, “Remember the good old days,” takes on new meaning. Bless the older couple for standing their ground as they have been in their home for so many years. They have a true strength to stay in their home through all of this, as it has been their home since their marriage! Bless the both!

When I watched the one with the child, I thought people were going to talk about the mother allowing the child to wander around on the street. I would never allow a child that close to a very busy street without carrying or holding their hand. Bad parenting. And then I thought the young man had not stopped. But come to find out he did stop!!!! That is called an accident and bad judgment on both party's side; the parents and the young man for riding on the sidewalk. And I agree, in a case like that, those idiot parents had no right to post that video without showing everything!

@@mac-yo2xs I think the original comment is not fair. I more agree with you. I think he is more at fault than the family. But he did stop, the family just ignored him because they needed to take the girl to the hospital. That being said, what makes this a gray area is that they decided to release the footage and possibly messed up his life for a long time. That makes me have less sympathy for them. 40 yrs old from Toronto. I've had 2 dogs from pups (1 Labrador & 1 Husky/Rottweiler mix) and have never had cats. But I've always loved cats. I grew up with all the neighborhood cats always coming to me when I was outside. I would always spend time with them in the garden/on the streets, sit with them and they would usually come into my lap. I always thought of them as wonderful and super cute. So interesting, so independent, and must be so ultra easy to take care of. Yes, cats are like cuddly easy children, fur-babies. I think the reason I never got any as an adult is because I'm a bit OCD with household cleanliness and they climb on everything like the top of couches and on bed pillows where you rest your head on etc. And their feet are always dirty and digging in the litter box etc. Also they usually have bum crusts that always come in contact with fabric surfaces. Aside from that I love cats and always will.

Once it was just the criminals who had contempt for the ordinary, law-abiding citizens. Then, about 30-40 years ago we saw the Judiciary move to a position on most crime, where they exhibited compassion for the criminal; hostility toward the property owner victims, and a complete lack of tolerance for the victim who fights back and injures his attacker. Today, even the Police force operates with an indifferent attitude toward property crime, an disinclination to tackle crime in ethnic communities, and a preference for prioritising "though crimes" (race, gender)

It's amazing that people would go after the cyclist when he was just cycling, Nanny says the onus is on the parent to have a hand on that child so near a street! Sure he should've stopped to make sure the kid was OK but 90% of this is on the parents. Here's a few ideas I recommend as a police officer to citizens that ask my advice about home security on a tight income (and unfortunately usually after a break-in). If you want to protect your property, but just don't have the money to purchase and install these state of the art surveillance cameras you can also buy light bulb cameras ($50 a piece on Amazon w/ 1080p) that just plug into a regular socket and use your home's WiFi (assuming you have it) or if you're looking for an even cheaper option then you can even look into buying fake decoy cameras on Amazon that attach with just double sided tape and even blink using a few AA or AAA batteries (most range from about $12-20 for a pack of 4). You can also use window/door alarms (GE makes them among other companies) that come in two pieces. Apply 1 piece to one side of the window/door and apply the 2nd piece parallel from the plain break in the window/door. When the plain breaks by opening a window/door they make a loud ringing sound that can either alert a person at home, neighbor, or just plain scare the burglar who thinks they might actually be hooked into a real alarm system....of course they are not though. They are essentially loud noise makers (Amazon sells them for about $19 for a pack of 4). These work by magnets and have a tolerance between the two magnetics that when exceeds say for example a 1/2 inch sounds off. Most crimes are opportunistic crimes, so if a criminal isn't specifically targeting your home and sees the decoys there's a good chance they'll just move on to the next easier target.

i have a very large (she's also very friendly, but a burglar doesn't know that) dog in the house, she always barks when there's someone at the door or a window... since she's quite large (40kg) she makes a lot of noise and that scares people with the wrong intentions.

@@jasminflower3814 : no my dear, this not good advise, specially coming from a "cop" who doesn't gives his/her real name. In most civilized countries is a felony to install fake cameras or even stickers on your window saying that you own one if you don't really have them. If you don't have enough to install a real loud alarm in your home you better get a big dog in your living room and a little annoying one that barks even to the ants in your garden.

I think people are fighting back because thieves never stop. He is gonna come back tomorrow for something else. Maybe stealing causes more trouble than the thing they steal. It's a life threatening situation and it should be stop when occurred. You shouldn't watch people as they just steal from you or from someone near, you may easily witness. I'm not saying resist no matter what but fight back.

The kid on the bike who hit the little girl made so many mistakes. First off, if you are forced on the sidewalk, you are already breaking the law, it's narrow and people may step out of a residence. Go slow and get off as quickly as is safe. Next, he should have called police and reported the accident and made himself available by not leaving the scene. Accept the ticket and responsibility and it would never have gone so public. "I just walked away". Well, there you have it. Then the dad of the boy pipes up and says no one has a right to post a video to the internet and compares that to inviting a film crew into his private residence and them having to have his permission. No, dumb jerk, it's not the same thing. The call went out to identify the bicyclist who vanished. Did he even think to come back and even apologize? Nope. Instead he hides out and hopes it all goes away. Then he points out that he fell off his bike after striking the child. Oh, so he's a victim also! Poor boy, right?

Mom should've been watching her own little girl. Yes, the cyclist shouldn't have been on the sidewalk, however, you could see enough to know the road was busy. It happened so fast. That cyclist couldn't have seen her over that brick wall. It was just a horrible accident. Mom and dad are most at fault here.

I've had tons of incidents done by neighbors and complete strangers. I'd bought my mom a miniature rose once. She absolutely adored it but when it started failing, I thought that perhaps it might do better in the garden. So I planted it where she could see it from her window and it began thriving. So much so that some woman fell in love with it and wanted it and her boyfriend brazenly got into our yard and dug it up for her. I'd heard some noises and caught him in the act but no amount of shouting got him to stop. As I called the police, he'd taken the rose and started walking away. I wanted to go down but then considered it hardly worth it since it was a cheapish plant I'd gotten from the local nursery but seriously, WTF? Who steals a cheap miniature rose from someone's garden in broad daylight? Is $5 really too much for this guy to spend on a plant for his girl?
