Under maritime law acts of piracy include damage to the property of sovereign nations and dragging the cables for 6 hours could be considered attempted theft. Piracy still carries the death penalty. People can argue themselves blue and make theoretical quick ways to untangle our need for trade with China but its simply not that easy. If you want Europe and any other country to stop being reliant on Chinese manufacturing you need the private secto to actually invest in local manufacturing, not the governments but the people with actual money, will they? No, it would cost them short term and they have very little interest in long term investments or doing the right thing. you, the Russian people, must rise up in revolt to stop your fascist dictator from collapsing your country...again. You need a reckoning and accountability. You have gotten away with far too much for far too long. Grow a spine and stop being sheep! 🐑

The Skipper and most of the Bridge Crew would have known of the Cables. They would have been aware of the Anchor situation as well.

Chinese need to be held accountable for this, if they are at war with the west then they should also have sanctions imposed on them... with their fragile economy they wont be able to handle it.

If there is no enforcement mechanism, there is no law. Would be interested to hear the legal case for detaining this crew and charging them and the shipping company for the offense. If the ship is worth less than the damage, and shipowner cannot be made to pay (as seems likely), how long can this crew be locked up to make an example of them?
@varbaekАй бұрын
The ship has stopped at a very specific area in the ocean that makes countries like Denmark not able to board their ship. They've been there for several days now.

The ship in question had entered the baltic sea for Ust-Luga outside st Petersburg and were now heading for Egypt. Since this is the second chinese vessel that cuts seabed links (NewNew polarbear was the first one) it´s emerging a pattern where it´s likely that Russia gives visiting chinese vessels a little "special mission" where they are requested to drop anchor from one certain position to another. The question is what the chinese gets in return for this little mission, and to what degree Xi´s people are in on it?
@horstravn3966Ай бұрын
I do not think Chinese are in on it - they find their ship missused - that is why the ship stays in the now position.
@wkrp0125 күн бұрын
@@horstravn3966 The ship can stay there forever, no prob. Just don't let any personnel or supplies get in our out.

It makes you wonder if there may also be other cables possibly for military use damaged by this ship and which damage has a confidential security information status so the public simply does not know of it.

What was the Chinese ship doing there other than cutting cables? Will they pay for the repairs? Were they acting on someone else's behalf?
