OK, a LONG time ago, I worked at a rental yard, that had 2 different Lister powered generators. 1 was a 2 cylinder, the other was 3 cylinders. When they were warm, two cranks on the 2 cyl, release the compression release on one cyl, and it would start. Chunk-chunk. Release next cyl, chunkchunk-chunkchunk. Wish I could find those again! Boss's grandfather was supplying extra power to the Boulder (Hoover) Dam, with them. Or so I was told. steve

this is the type of diesel I need for my schooner project, long stroke, low RPM, big flywheels, hand start capability, don't know if you still have this or where you are, but thanks for the demo of that engine

I always have problems starting those engines with the handle. I prefer the electric method. But alot of people seem to be comfortable with those handles and start those engines with ease. I can spend sometimes 30 minutes just trying to start the engine.

I was looking at this and trying to figure out where and how a serpentine belt would work, then I thought that perhaps you mis-spoke and meant to say 'polyvee' belt. I gathered that by noticing the poly-vee pulley on the generator shaft. I'll tell you one thing, it might be a Lister Clone, but it starts with a lot less smoke than an original Lister does. That's a sweet running engine , I'll give you that !

Nice I bet you will miss that sound. My Grandfather built his own compressor had a unique sound to it. Good luck with the sale I am to far away to peak at it.
