“That’s an arse!” So reassuring to hear a good old fashioned technical term we all understand. Also, many thanks for your reply to my comments regarding the poor starting on the other AA1! I’ve not had a chance to reply but stumbled across this video so please accept this as my reply. Isn’t it fun playing with Diesel engines built to last. World besting motors in my opinion. I'm not familiar with these engines but yours seems to run much faster than I expected is there a govenor adjustment on it?

Not sure about the adjustment, it isn't variable speed though. I have not checked but I am fairly certain it is running at 3,000 RPM which is the plate speed. Many thanks for watching, please like, share and if you like the channel, subscribe!

Here I am again...incredible!!! the way you start this engine! Since 2 weeks I have a Lister 822/lp16. It looks like the same as a Petter AA1. Is that right? I can only start this engine with a drilling machine (electric drill)

I don't like to preach and only stumbled over you video, but I was taught way back that first rule of diesel is don't put your hand over the intake. Higher compression of a diesel means higher suction = ripping the skin from your bones when you cover the intake with your hand. Again don't want to preach but may save your hand in the future.

Might well be true in some instances but as it happens not in many cases as you can't get a good enough seal. Fair point though and in any case, it didn't work. Some kind of other sealing medium might but I doubt it.

@@BensWorkshop no problem, just gives me the shivers when I see people do it, I always have a leather glove and a piece of wood to smother the intake when I start unknown engines. Could be my old teacher put shivers in me for life with the stories we got told! Don't get me started on oxy torches and gas bottles!

im rebuilding a petter aa1, does the sealing washer go on the very end of the injector or on the step? i got the engine in a box and have never built a diesel before, however i have built many petrol engines, thank you

It depends. Does the engine shut down with using the normal on/off control? If not you may have an oil leak into the combustion chamber. Otherwise there may be a problem with a stuck governor or settings. Thanks for watching, please like, share and if you like the channel, subscribe!
