Still I will dispute the idea that anime Kiabia was ever normal, one of his first scenes after assaulting Yugi’s Grandpa in the anime is him jamming a gun with a card. Anime Kaibia pretends to be above it all while being the biggest lunatic in the room. He still blew up an island, created a blue eyes white dragon jet, and reoriented the entire world economy around a childrens card game in the og anime. He may not be as obviously insane as his manga counter part, but he’s still crazy. It’s why Yughio abridged worked so well, aside from his relationship with Mokuba abridged Kiabia is barley exaggerated. TLDR:Kiabia is an insane lunatic no matter the universe. He’s Lex Luthor but for card games.

1:51 Actually, Takahashi decided for the name to be Magic & Wizards. It's Magic & Wizards from the start to the end of the manga, which is 1996 to 2004. The name change to "Duel Monsters" first appeared in the original 1998 Yu-Gi-Oh! titled "Yu-Gi-Oh!" (after the manga because sequels are the one's that get subtitles) anime introducing the card game. The anime staff changed a bunch of things from the manga. The card games name being one of them. Later that year, Konami released the "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters" game. When Gallop was chosen to make the 2nd series, of course Konami being a sponsor since their version of the card game released in 1999, the title "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters" was kept from the original anime and Konami's card game. 2:24 The manga didn't exclusively focus on card games. Takahashi alternated between card game and regular game between each arc. Duelist Kingdom (card game) > DDD arc to before Kaiba tests out Obelisk (various games) > Kaiba test and BC (card game) > King's Memories arc (primarily monster battles with a few card games). Yuugi Ou means Game King. Takahashi never deviated from the title. 4:48 That's false. The prototype Duel Disk was in development during Death-T, nearly 1 year before Duelist Kingdom, as Kaiba told Yugi and co. before he dueled Jonouchi. It had nothing to do with Pegasus. Unfortunately, Yugi didn't want Atem to come back and would rather the world end, which is why he said "Sorry, everyone" as he was passing out. 18:26 He created multiple ways to the afterlife. The first being in Transcend Game. If he had went through Duel Links, he would have died. The second is in the movie. He found the Quantum Cube (has the ability to teleport to different dimensions), which helped him perfect travel to the afterlife.

Okay to be fair about number 40, his past self was Pharaoh after Atem sealed himself away. Now with Atem in the afterlife he is one of two people in the entire world worthy of the 7th Millennium item. Also Kaiba Land didn't become Blue-eyes centric until after Duelist Kingdom, after Pegasus was already dead thanks to Yami Bakura. One correction though, you say DSOD takes place 2 years after the end of the series/manga and that's not true as it was stated by the creator in an interview in 2016 that the movie picks up a mere 6 months after the end of the manga

To be fair, after duelist Kindgom, pegasus was basically dethroned (and in the nanga, killed) and seeing how Duel monsters is serius business, that also probably made his stock plummet, making it easy pickings for competing companies to buy them out... like say, a certain petty super genius with whom you just had a beef involving kidnapping his brother and capturing his soul (and a hostile takeover of his own) Add to it his obsession with the BEWD and you can bet your @$$ he was getting all those juicy licenses for himself (and considering his past actions... probably did so in a ...rather messy way) Also, ironically, i think all his past life baggage is one of the least impactful things in his decision making, his bondage twink boyfriend was all about that hidden destiny $#1+, but Seto Kaiba wouldn't give a rat's @$$ about the soap opera life of Priest Seto, he just likes power

The YU-GI-OH card game came out 3 months after MAGIC THE GATHERING and the issue that had introduced MAGIC AND WIZARDS came out 2 years before the card game came out. Also in the manga the cards had an M and a W on the cards which stood for MAGIC AND WIZARDS. SO THE CREATOR OF YU-GI-OH CAME UP WITH A CARD GAME NAMED MAGIC BEFORE WIZARDS OF THE COAST DID!

Magic released in 1993. Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game released in 1999. The manga chapter "The Cards With Teeth" introducing Magic & Wizards was released in 1996. Takahashi stated that the inspiration of Kaiba was someone rude his friend met at a card game shop, heavily implied to be a Magic player. Magic is the direct inspiration for Magic and Wizards, hence the name. The chapter it's introduced in by basically describing it as Magic: popular in America, niche in Japan, and had player take the role of dueling wizards. Just want to clear that up.

On the list of bad things, he’s done in his first appearance after he stole the blue eyes white dragon from Yugi he beat Yugi with a briefcase when he asked for it back. When he met up with the rest of the main characters, Joey shows that he has not forgiven him for his attempted murder. Kaiba reacts with mild amusement, rather than apologizing and somehow Joey is the one at fault for not wanting to forgive the asshole who can’t say I’m sorry I tried to kill you. In battle city, he let dark Marik run around and torture people with magic. He lets a serial killer run around unopposed so he can win a card. And people say it was the dub that made him an awful person. Kaiba was always an awful person. Even with the anime, cutting out his initial villainy.
