Wolfy never disappoints and still adore just how much Liszt appreciated opera.

Liszt was always obsessed with death, of course he transcribed and composed many funeral marches xD Thank you so much for uploading this rare piece Andrei :)

True, probably this was composed when his betrothal was thwarted as then he was in a very sad mood, he even tried suicide attempts...

This was composed when liszt went in Portugal. Don Sebastian was a notable king of Portugal. This transcription was played by Liszt to the Queen Maria II and the King Fernando II

All of these transcriptions and reminiscences are such an amazing addition to the massive body of Liszt recordings! As someone who has been listening to Liszt's music for a long time, these recordings add a whole new dimension! Thanks so very much.

Particularly interesting the introduction that prepares the entry of march quite smoothly and elegantly without being excessively hard to play. The augmentation of main theme alternated with the counterpoint of the choir theme are seemlessly integrated All in all a very well crafted piece, perhaps - agree with your comment - put together more with mastery than real inspiration, but worth to be listened

Quelle source illimitée d’inspiration pour Liszt que ces opéras oubliés de Donizetti ou d’autres compositeurs ! Quel travail colossal de la part du pianiste virtuose Wolfram !
