Another great video Sammy. Just for everyones interest, our family was at the southport spit today and 4 of us observed a Marlin leap out off the water approx 200 metres from the end of the southern wall. You could clearly see his beak and I’d have estimated him to be about 60kg of there abouts. There was heaps of bait being harassed just of the wall. Never ever seen that before and probably never will again. Woohoo

Thanks for that Steve. I heard of a Spanish being caught just out from the Seaway last weekend. I wasn't sure about that with all the dirty water pushing out from the floods but it seems it might have been true.

The one thing you will notice with a sail vs a Bk/marlin is the strike speed. We chased them on 6kg sport tackle and it was like hooking a freight train. They also come back to the boat as fast as they left it. I have had a few instances were I thought they were coming over the transom. Good luck, here's hoping you hook up a sail soon. Its a great experience and they light up like a Christmas tree.

@boknows_trusted2 жыл бұрын
You end up getting out yet? We’re going out for a Spanish tomorrow
@jordangrant62192 жыл бұрын
@@boknows_trusted yeah went out Australia Day, ridiculous queue at the ramp! No mackerel but got a 140cm black tipped reef shark. Was a true double hookup too - it smashed a pilly on a gang my wife had out then went straight for my livey so we were both hooked up to the same fish for a while! Luckily it's tail caught my wife's leader and busted her off leaving me clear to land it. It had completely swallowed the gangs and was bleeding internally so we couldn't release it, so we gutted and bled it and ended up with a nice 5kg or so of delicious fillets
