I fought a similar sized blue marlin on my kayak this morning in Hawaii. It made one big run before going deep. It broke my 80lb mono leader after 30 minutes with over 700ft of line out strait down. I tightened my drag too much and I'm convinced that is why I lost it. I had another 2000 feet of line on the reel and so I should have just let it keep going. I've only caught one small striped marlin before and this one was so much more powerful. I will probably get some 100 or 120lb leader and bigger circle hooks for next time. Or should I go with an even heavier leader?

Went out 9 also saw use boys out there got swiped by a kingie on a stickbait and went in to Kirra saw a little blue free swimming 300 metres from the beach and it followed the popper to the boat twice just couldn’t seem to convince it.

Yeah Sammy l had a great Sunday, l caught a little lady who could paint the inside walls of the house, she's about 5'2", solid backbone and a nice bit of meat on her.. so l made sure she followed the rules and supplied plenty of drinks

Have just sat through 39 minutes of comedy central , first time Hitzke's even seen a Marlin outside an aquarium and yet pretends that he knows what he is doing as usual. Did you hear the story of the 3 guys who went out to sea to catch a worthy fish to eat, there was Sammy the fish whisperer, Shaun the Whale, and another short and scrawny old bloke Graham the slimy minnow catcher, the long and short of this tale.. was that only 2 fish were caught... Sammy brought the exceptional food along, Shaun - an esky of beer, and Graham .. chipped in for some Ice and shared his pilfered stubby opener... l could write a book on this trip

TheWogGuy I believe you are allowed to keep 1 of each species to eat if you want. Most people just practice catch and release though. The tagging is for shaun’s game fishing club 👍👍

Maybe I'm evil, but I would have kept both fish. Where I fish, the people are extremely gentle with the whole catch and release crap and way too many die anyway. The Stripers have a limit now of one per person a day because of the whole ego fishing thing and ruined it for the rest of us that love to eat fish. I used to catch them all day and night and fill the cooler, but now, just one and I have to go. They don't even want the chance you'll hook another or may.

Sammy Hitzke Fishing I’ve noticed almost everyone does from Japan and Australia. It just seems weird people would reel with their dominant hand. I’m noticed this is almost all of the Australian youtubers that I watch. It’s like 10 times easier to pump with your dominant arm and reel with the left. In America 95% of all the conventional fishing reels are all right handed but there’s a few company’s that sell left handed reels.
