You can change a setting so it will adjust altitude up or down as you go up or down go down and turn follow terrain on, it's under where you set the direction in leash mode

Yeah I did turn that on but it said it couldn't use it because of weak GPS signal or some such 🤷‍♂

Hi Josh. I commented on your earlier effort and pleased you ran with it again after RFTM. Speaking of which, I have read in many places that the antenna, (the lumpy bit on top holding the phone in) should always be pointed at the drone for best reception and performance. Yet every time I see these reviews with the drone in Trace or follow mode the controller is in front and pointing away from the drone. I can't help but wonder if that is a factor contributing to disconnection and average performance. Anyway, just my 2c and thanks for your work.

Yeah bit hard to point it at the drone on a MC in follow mode but I guess it would be doable somehow...

I’ve found the Mini 2/Litchi/Follow Mode combo to work quite well. Obviously a plus to have quite an open area for the drone to reduce the crash anxiety… Have used it a few times in my last videos from riding here in Norway. Check the videos from ‘Bukkerittet’ and ‘Aursjøvegen’. Great channel by the way, appreciate your laidback Aussie style!! 🏍️🤟🏻😁 Ps: I don’t think the speed you drive at makes a big difference, as long as you have good coverage/signals you will get a nice zoom-in effect when the drone catches up to you when you slow down. Would like to get less jerky movements when the drone is correcting the direction though…

Prob the best vid I've seen of the actual footage and from a successful trial of that app , is just a shame the drone lacks the obstacle avoidance, either way there's worthy footage that can be used and I'm sure a bit more playing with heights and angles you'll get some good stuff

I am curious... does the mini not get the same feature set as my Air 2? As I get some good follow features from DJI Fly app with my Air2.

Yeah the Mini & Mini 2 have no obstacle avoidance sensors so DJI don't include any tracking features.

How does the mini react if you were to disappear behind a canopy of trees or some other obstacle?

I would tend to avoid that kind of situation but I imagine if it lost connection it would attempt to go to the last known home point. They do generally seem to regain the connection again pretty quickly though if the obstacle is out of the way.

That worked well when you set it to the direction rather than tether. It also worked better zoomed out as well I think

Yeah for sure mate buggered if I know why it was so twitchy when zoomed in, probably just appeared that way but yeah 100% better zoomed out and using the course setting 👌

did you use the follow mode or tracking mode? ... I have a mini 1 and it works very smooth with litchi in follow mode ... (except passing in dense forest passage itlost connections and landed thru tress=crashed the drone)

It was follow mode, and yeah that is a worry in the trees!

@@MVDBR ok but then I dont understand why the drone is struggeling with following you, try to leave the transmitter outside the tankbag, might have problems with signal transmission ... (Itchy Boots does it like that with the control unit on top of tankbag fixed with some scratch (velcro) fixation... myself I have adapted a fixation that goes onto my ram mount ...

Hi thank you for this test, this type of drone is not good for tracking. the framing, the fluidity and the obstacle detectors make it unusable in the forest. The SKYDIO 2 is currently the best drone for tracking. Unfortunately, not for sale in Europe. you can buy it in the USA directly but the shipping costs plus the import costs bring you to an extremely high price. see you soon
