Two things at play here: 1) Being the great Jeepers that you are, you actually wheeled in the rocks instead of trying to overcome them with brute force and crashing the car into them like waves. 2) Being the great Jeepers that you are, you have acquired so much good trail karma that not only did you finish and place 23rd at KOH with no mechanicals or breakage, but also finished and placed 14th at BFE with no mechanicals or breakage BEFORE THE CAR WAS FIXED! Good things come to those who do good things, and, whether it’s helping folks in a jam on trail, helping people become better wheelers, or just spreading positivity, y’all do good things. So... Keep living your best lives and Happy Trails!

Britney, I mentioned that great job of editing on your video. You really did do a great job of on it. Not only did you finish the KOH on your first time out, you place in the top half. AND you didn't destroy the equipment. Tell me, how many DNF racers were on their first attempt and I'm sure many were not on their first try. You didn't just do good, you knocked it out of the park.
@KX6D3 жыл бұрын
We raced a bomber, had won the 4500 EMC the day before...again...and didn't finish this year due to transmission issues. Its phenomenal they did so well on their first year! I don't think that Mel Wade has ever finished; please correct me if I'm wrong. Some years are just not your year. For K&B, all the parts came together and stayed together because they didn't overdrive their car. I've see that asshole Robbie Gordon DNF at least twice and a Toyota on leaf springs win twice. K&B did it right with lots and lots of help! It takes a lakebed!

The reason that you took on as little damage as you did, is due to Kevin's awesome driving, Brittany's spot on spotting and you loosing your racing virginity. I know for a fact cuz when I raced my first Parker 400, when it was called the Parker 400, I had the same fortune by placing in the top ten. But my luck wasn't so good in the BAJA 1000. I didn't finish that race due to lawn darting my truck and going end over end between 12 to 15 times. But the good thing was that I walked away with both of my shoulders sore and a voice around two octives higher than normal. You two keep doing what you are doing, believe in each other, respect each other and keep up the great work and vlogging. Maybe one of these days, we might just happen to cross paths. Keep the shiney side up and keep on trucking.
@josephhazlett47373 жыл бұрын
I know they were sore the next day. I was sore as sh_t after the Parker but for two days and going to the chiropractor three times a week for two and a half months. When we raced in the eighties we (I) I didn't have all the technology and suspension travel that they have today

The banjo housing is cracked in the middle at the bottom because the axle tubes are flexing up. You need an upgraded rear axle housing with top and bottom tube reinforcement. The flexing is also what causes the studs to work loose as the flange is stretching around the stud holes. Great work on the race and the editing 👍

Great vid. I attribute the minimal damage SUSTAINED to proper driving/handling of the vehicle and choosing the right line. As far as the rear diff is concerned, can you drill the crack to stop it from travelling then re weld it ? And as far as the nuts loosening up on the center chunk of the rear. Is it possible to put a NordLoK washer on it ? I used those washers at my old job. They were awesome. It's basically a double lock washer. Awesome job folks. How did you feel in the days after the race?

This compared to the Ford Bronco blowing out their original, their spare, and having to borrow a 3rd driveshaft during the race. Great vehicle, great mechanics, great driver, and great spotter brought 999 across the finish line with its original parts. Well done!!!
@codyshortt44693 жыл бұрын
Congrats to safely completing the race! If you have a problem with keeping your 3rd member nuts torqued, it may be because of a previous over-torque. If someone over-torqued the nuts at some point, they may have stretched the bolts into their material yielding region of stress. I'm guessing/hoping you plan on replacing all of those studs when you get your whole axle housing fixed. And you should probably replace the nuts too.
