i got diagnosed with ADHD in law school, here on brasil you have to write a final thesis for graduation and that almost literally killed me, i couldn't do it, trying to write and study for my thesis was almost vomit inducing and the maddening part is that it was about a subject i absolutely loved, but i couldn't do it, the pressure and the amount of work that i needed to do made my brain convulse and refuse to look at my books and i was having all the symptoms of severe anxiety and depression disorders i was lucky that in my most severe episode i had my sister to call for her help, i got a diagnose i cried like a baby in my first sessions with a therapist and i got the medication for my case i finally finished my thesis, and then covid happened today i can't afford my medication anymore, things have been dire i lost a lot of opportunities because i went through college without treating my condition, but today i am alive, and i am living, i can manage with the optimism that things will get better

I FEEL you about the sleep apnea. I was told by an orthodontist that I'm tongue tied (the connective tissue on the underside of the tongue is too tight) and that affects sleep by giving your tongue less options of where to rest when you're sleeping. It really only can fall back into your throat. So I got surgery to fix that and HOLY WOW that was life changing oh my god. I really did walk around shocked wondering "What the hell? People go to sleep and DON'T feel microwaved?" Seriously if any of you are tongue tied and have the ability, ask your dentist for a referral to have it fixed.

loved the conversation about ADHD, and putting in my own spin as a auADHD, it has happened so many times that i start a day sensory seeking and then eventually get really overwhelmed and overstimulated and find myself incable of doing a lot of things and stuggling to even take a shower, and in that i apreciate 3bskyen and these more laid back videos because for me they're ADHD and autism friendly in a way that provides me stimulation that doesnt overwhelm me, also your lor art critiques and boss deisgns helped me trough very rough times as my first breakup in life coincided with the start of the pandemic so here's a thank you for that time as well

You and Tarnished Archeology are the only Fromsoft lore(ish in your case) channels i can stand. Cuz you actually look at the game and and analyze the shit what goes on. Your boss designs videos are probably my favorite videos on your channel. Also holy shit as someone just getting started on getting that ADHD diagnosis cause Aalborg said i had to figure that shit out before i can transition my gender. Hearing someone else describe all the crap i've been going through without knowing why for multiple decades now was both terrifying, heartwrenching, and inspiring. Also you and a set group of comic book artists are the reason why i'm trying to get into the big art school in denmark so thanks for that inspiration.

As per the first 2 minutes of pondering in the video: 40 is indeed the first soft-cap on Vigor. It doesn't work as it does in the other souls games though; iirc you still get a pretty significant boost up to 60. Looking at the wiki: You get an average of 29.5 hp/lvl for the first 40 levels and an average 22.5 for the next 20 (and 5.1 from 60 to 99). As to Strength, the break point is smack at 30 (or 45) for most things not heavy infused, which takes the break point up to 60 I believe. That being said, lvl 70 is absolutely adequate for the content you are currently doing. I don't know whether or not you consider this back-seating (in which case ignore my advice), but a large part of your damage in this game comes from weapon upgrades, which "require" you to go through side content (especially the mines) in order to upgrade more than a handful of weapons. Tombs are also good to have a look at, if you plan on ever using Spirit Ashes, since they are the primary location for the Ghostglove (or something like that). Edit: On your map I can see a couple of mines being completed already, so your weapon damage should be absolutely fine for this point of the game. Ignore my prior rambling, if you so choose...

Hi there, I know the video is 2 months old but I found your channel through your recent elden ring boss design video and found you so fucking refreshing that I ended up watching a ton of your content even games I didn't play haha. But listening to you talk about your adhd and finding acceptance with it is very reminiscent to me of my own self- acceptance journey and the idea I basically hear you describing and that has been radically life changing for me is discovering which traits about myself that I used to view as flaws or deficits and fed into so much self- loathing but now I understand that they're "morally neutral". It seems so trivial that shifting my thinking that little bit would have such a profound effect on my day to day happiness but it has and I'm glad to hear you've been kind to yourself about your own neurodivergence. We're not failing morally because we might operate differently, it's neutral! Not good or bad, just is! Peace be with you! We only get one life, I think, cheers to not spending it beating ourselves up or "should"ing ourselves to death! Edited to add: Okay and now at the end of the video and you mentioned Behind the Bastards and I understand why I like your channel and takes so much! You talk about my favorite game and love my favorite podcast! Now to twiddle my thumbs until your misbegotten video drops...

My first run was sorcerer. Mostly using Glintstone pebble art of war on a rapier and some of the stone toss incantations to stagger enemies, swapping to the Dark Moon greatsword in the endgame and basically ending as Carian Knight dedicated to Ranni, both as gameplay plan and character lore. Current second run is with a big axe with some bestial incantations (Strength/Faith scaling catalyst) thrown in as ranged option and a lot of using the shield riposte strikes. My most recent experience so far was a boss that I put to sleep with pots, then did 2 fully charged attacks and a normal strike to stagger them, critical hit and repeat.

I wanna say the soft caps in elden ring are a bit higher than previous souls games, who usually had 125 as the optimal end game sort of level target. Elden ring, you will probably get to 150 or higher. For vigor it is indeed 40 but going up to 60 is near mandatory due to the insane late game damage

It's neat seeing similar stories in other comments here - I've long suspected I've had ADHD (I already know I'm some kind of neurodivergent since I was a Gifted Kid, and I frequently relate to what ADHDers describe) so it was nice to hear you talk about it (I'm gonna get myself tested the next time I see my doctor!) but also, that talk about sleep apnea was... eye-opening? Like, I literally have that *exact* feeling of needing to spend an hour "booting up" when I wake up, and then hearing you talk about how it was mind-blowing to realize other people *don't* just experience that *all the time*??

Yep, sleep apnea and ADHD are known to be comorbid! Honestly ADHD comes with a lot of potential other things and it makes you realize just how little we still know about what it even is. Definitely get a sleep test if you can, getting a Cpap was a life changer for me and I don't know how I went so long without one. Good luck with the ADHD diagnosis!

I hear you on the ADHD struggles Skyen cause oh boy have I been and go through that misery very often and need to constantly remind myself it's not my fault and so don't forget to always remind yourself it's not your work on gradually training yourself on not not blaming yourself filling yourself with self loathing and when to take a brake and believe me I know it's an ongoing battle constant battle and will be a long gradual process and there will always be set backs but it's the best approach I've found also know when to ask people not to do something that triggers the self consciousness/self loathing and yeah it ain't perfect but it does help somewhat you've even mentioned some of this/this in the video yourself.

One small suggestion I'll make is that you should stock up on Kukri knives (you can buy them from the merchant near Castle Morne) because having a ranged option in this game WILL make your life soooo much easier. Throwing pots are also great fun, but Kukri scale with STR as well as DEX, and they have a very impressive range. Well worth their price imho. And man, I feel you on the ADHD stuff. I finally got diagnosed a couple years ago, and it was such a game changer. Having the validation to just be kinder to yourself and the way your brain works helps so much. Also.. heh heh.. funny you talk about rock textures when there is actually some very deep lore to the rock textures in a certain late-game area 😁

I just want to take a moment to thank you Skyen for the tip on using reverse analysis as a tool in approaching designs. Often I notice things that are "off" or peculiar in media and find it hard to put my finger on it, only that something was intentionally off about it. It never occurred to me the usefulness of tackling an element from the perspective of its opposite, or "what if it's not X?" **SPOILER** What would have happened if Radahn's horse is scaled bigger instead of being laughably small? What if Malenia has armor instead of being naked in her final form? Why is it the "Scarlet" rot? Why specifically scarlet? **SPOILER** The simple exercise shed a lot more light on the designs, made them easier to digest, and I'd begun to really appreciate the artistic choices behind them. There is no "right" design or "better" design, but rather it is rewarding in attempting to understand "why is it designed the way it is presented." And I thank you for giving us this tool.

As someone who also has ADHD, it often feels like your own brain is constantly guiltripping and gaslighting you, like it can be really really insidious, especially when you don't know it's ADHD yet and don't have medication. Like I have ADHD too, and I have known about it since I was diagnosed about a decade ago at 11 years old, I got Ritalin, and that shit did not play well with my brain chemistry(likely because of my codiagnosis of autism), so like I finally tried medication again recently, with Elvanse, and that stuff actually helps me so much! Btw I am also a Dane like yourself, except I live on Fyn, so I know exactly how annoying the Danish medical system can be(especially for me since my personal doctor is can of horrible, luckily my psychiatrist for the medication is awesome) Just wanted to share my experience to say like, I know how you feel, and you're not alone! I thought my executive dysfunction was the same as laziness.

my favorite youtuber of the past 7 years has the same neurodivergency as me?? Collor me surprised. Jokes aside though, happy you're finding ways to deal with it. I'm in a place where I don't even see the adhd as something "wrong" with me as much as it's just a neurology that functions reaaaaaaaaly badly within our modern (post industrial, capitalist), society. The happiest I've ever been is when I get to travel (in ways that don't mean I need to be anywhere on time) No schedule, just eat, sleep, generally keep yourself alive and enjoy the moment. All the symptoms just disappear into thin air. But obviously that's not a life I can just permanently keep doing, or I could but I would have to sacrifice all that I have at this point. But just running off into the woods has been a lil fantasy of mine for a while now. Accepting the positive that comes with that type of neurology has also been a big jump for me, which is all the more easy when (like you) I started finding ways to deal with it and be kinder to myself about it.

I'd advise avoiding grinding all that much - it's much more entertaining, and a lot quicker, to explore areas you haven't visited yet and go through catacombs, dungeons, and etc. - just something to keep in mind for the future, there's a lot of fun little items to be found in the optional areas, and there's *plenty* of them. Also, glad you're able to get back to the game, even for a bit - it really can be a sirensong when it digs in, and being able to get back to it should help just a little bit ❤

Your musings about Sleep Apnea certainly reinforces my determination to keep bugging my doctors about investigating it. I recognise myself _so goddamn much_ in that two-hour-or-more startup sequence and occasional _fucking neccesary_ naps. Additionally, I have the constant fatigue and brain fog. The sticking points of my doctors so far seems to be the fact that I don't know if I snore or not (I've been living alone for eight years, what the hell do they want me to do? And snoring's not even guaranteed if you have apnea! It's just very common) And if you have the misfortune of being a female-passing neurodivergent person with depression, doctors just don't seem to fucking take your concerns about _really serious, unrelenting, life-hindering_ fatigue seriously 🙃
