Fun Fact: It's revealed through radio ads in BL3, S&S aren't just still around, they canonically make the glowing beacon lights that alert you to items in the overworld. It's not just a gameplay feature, it's lore!

@MrRADicalOfficial

@@krackedbeats5947 I thought Randy already said that the Hyperion New You stations weren't canon. Which makes sense because why would Jack keep letting you respawn when he wants you perma dead. Just in case you say "Oh they want the money", then why allow the Vault Hunter to keep respawning to kill Jack himself and the Warrior? It would only make sense up until you reach that point (sense he does want to kill you himself so respawning would allow you to reach him). Plus they are already rich as fuck and any money you make on the way could already be obtainable after he wiped all life on Pandora out, unless the Warrior burned everything. I thought the reasoning why they did that was because they thought it would be funny.

Side note, Hyperion Sniper Rifles have a special unlisted mechanic where the longer you're scoped in, the more accuracy they gain, replacing the usual "gets more accurate as you fire". This change is reflected in the tags of the Hyperion snipers in 3, but not in 2 and TPS despite it being present.

Dahl actually makes really good guns. They seem lackluster, but that's because they basically took over the role of Atlas from BL1, They've got all the accuracy of Hyperion and the firerate of Vladof with S&S magazine capacities and damage that frequently rivals old Torgue. I used to avoid Dahl because the damage is a bit lacking compared to Jackobs, but then I played as Moze and discovered just how powerful the guns really are.

I hated dahl in the other games, i'm not usually a fan of burst (especially on something like a sniper rifle) and they didn't really have anything particular about them like vladof or hyperion. They were by far one of my favourite manufacturers in bl3, only matched by vladof. Going from "only burst and one optic" to "switch from full to burst or from burst to semi and also increase zoom" made them go from a useless gimmick brand to a swiss army knife with a blend of single target sniping thanks to the accuracy and damage, horde spray and pray thanks to the mag size and fire rate, all without compromising on the stuff i care about. I was playing as moze, which tbf probably loves dahl more than the others do due to her assault rifle synergy, but tbh i was more stoked to find the perfect purple dahl lmg than some random legendary.

The Hyperion pistols became both SMGs and shotguns. The BL3 Hyperion shotguns often end up being just slightly oversized pistols. I want to compare each manufacturer to a real world company. Jakobs - Henry. Their dedication to levergats reminds me greatly of Jakobs. They also utilize wood and blued steel. They're also starting to make 9mm carbines. S&S - Glock. A smallish company that makes guns, among other things, especially things related to weapons, but not directly weapons. Glock has, in the past, made doorknobs, shower curtain rods, entrenching tools, knives, and the links to link ammunition for firing from a belt fed. They also currently produce firewood and horse semen. I may be writing this to share this fact. Vladof - The whole gamut of soviet arms designers. The USSR was quite weird with weapon manufacturing, with most of the weapons being made by state arsenals. The point was to arm as many soldiers as needed with simple weapons that could be easily trained on. During the Cold War, many of the soldiers that the USSR had were conscripts, and many of them came from villages with low literacy rates that lacked electricity and running water. A lot of them were effectively medieval peasants. Hyperion - Heckler and Koch. They produce high end, exceptionally reliable firearms that are overbuilt for combat zones. They utilize often unusual mechanisms, such as the roller delayed mechanism present in many of their long guns, but primarily the G3 and the MP5. The MP5 specifically is known to run like a sewing machine, with minimal recoil and impressive accuracy under full auto fire. They also make some insane, off the wall weapons, like the G11, which is designed to use caseless ammo and has an internal mechanism more comparable to a clock than a gun. Atlas - Wilson Combat. With Wilson Combat, we get into weapons that are more intended as luxury items and collector pieces, but are still not unreasonable to bring into combat. They utilize all sorts of hand fit parts and build their weapons to be as reliable as they are nice. They come with a price tag to match, however. Dahl - Sig Sauer. They produce some of the best weapons for the money. Highly reliable, usually somewhat modular, especially their more recent stuff, like the MCX, P365, and P320. They have won the contract for the M17 and M18 series of handguns for the US Army and Marine Corps respectively, and the XM7 rifle (previously the XM5, but was renamed as Colt has a trademark on M5) and the XM250 machine gun are promising, even if I think it's an uphill battle to replace the 5.56 as the standard infantry cartridge. I do think that the XM250 could replace the M249 in a lot of roles, as it's lighter. Maliwan - Kel Tec. Now, I'm not taking into consideration Kel Tec's reputation, but you can't deny they make some seriously innovative designs. The KSG is a pump shotgun which can cram a massive 14+1 rounds of 12ga into a barely above 26 inch package. The P3AT beat the LCP to the punch in practically microscopic .380s, and arguably beat the P365 to the ultra-compact concealed carry market by almost a decade, with the P9. That's just a few, but if anyone has anything to add, please do.

So, you can assume that none of the playable characters get shot in the head or heart during the game: it’s not too much a stretch since lore-wise, injury is treated seriously. You've got to remember that while most of them have had their brains cooked from the Pandoran sun, a lot of bandits used to be really smart people like Tannis. Maybe the reason Hyperion only makes 3 types of guns in BL3 is because of the fall of Handsome Jack and the events of Tales. Jack grew the company to great lengths but in exchange for killing off the higher ups. Then after Tales I think the lost of the space station and staff the company hit a new low with money. By BL3 it could be assumed that the company is now getting back on its feet. But to save money they had to cut production down to only 3 types of weapons. My theory about bandit/scav weapons is that the bandits in Pandora have a select few who are smart bandits or idiot servants that make the weapons. In mine cart mischief Tannis says that some of the bandits used to be scientists who have gone mad over time. Those who used to be scientist now filled with bloodlust and a taste for blood made guns with more bullets to shoot people longer. Scav are well scavengers and I’m willing to bet most of them know their way around tech and some were very good at making guns despite being dumb.

I believe they were all legendary at some point, but from the moment they were sold by manufacturers or stolen, they started to wear out and their parts started to have problems, so they started using spare parts from other manufacturers. So a white torgue pistol was a Harold at its best, but the bad guys started fixing them as best they could and learned over time how to reverse engineer them.

But I prefer Tediore. In BDL 2, when you throw the weapon and it explodes then teleports back to your hand it's SO useful. It's like basically getting a ton of free grenade damage with every reload. And if you have an elemental Tediore weapon(I had acid and slag) it just releases a huge cloud of elemental damage that can one-shot enemies at high levels. But my main love in these games is Jakobs. Gimme that high powered, one-shot-one-kill, in the palm of my hand any day.

A few things: - FIrst of all, Mr. Torgue is one of the best written characters in video games, just like Jack. But he's the exact opposite in the way that you love to hate Jack, you absolutely love Mr. Torgue just for who he is. He's a delight whenever he's on the vox, and my friends and I have been randomly meme-ing his lines for almost a decade. - Tediore's reload mechanic is due to digistruct technology. Essentially, it's pulling the bullets out of your digi-reserve just like you do with any other gun, but it also just creates the gun along with it. Your character can only physically have two guns on their person at a time, one in their hands and one on their back or holster. The other two are being held in digi-storage and registered to be constructed as your 1 of four choices. Tediore just took advantage of this universal digistruct useage and thought, "what's faster than loading in a new clip? just have a new gun appear! what do we do with the old gun? have it explode like a grenade! value added!" and that's why they're one of the best manufacturers for many play styles, especially extremely aggressive run-and-gun where you charge in like a maniac and don't think about the consequences. Next: - BL1 Atlas guns: mediocre stats and under-performs in any area that the other manufacturers specialize in. I've almost never come across anything better than an uncommon Atlas in the wild, and I have over 1,000 hours in the game. Even the unique weapons are pretty much side grades to more specialized manufacturers. This is a case where trying to be balanced means being the back of the pack. - Hyperion in BL2: Complete downgrade from BL1. In BL1 they were ultra precise. The best in terms of accuracy. Chef's Kiss. "My Hyperion." Just like the Atlas in-game, the lore does not reflect the actual performance. Just as Atlas has terrible stats of only a few percentage points better than the average in their rarity, BL2 Hyperion is crazy inaccurate until you've wasted half your clip. You'll waste so many bullets you'll think you've been doing a Vladoff only run, except you'll miss the majority of the shots. This means that you spend more time reloading, and more time firing at each enemy to actually put damage on the target. Completely counter-productive. And in terms of sniper rifles, what's the point of a sniper rifle that you have to fire off a few shots to tip the enemy off that they're being shot at before you actually make a head shot? By the time a Hyperion rifle is either scoped in long enough to stabilize or fired 3 quarters of it's clip to gain accuracy, a psycho is eating your brains. They also make rocket launchers, you forgot to put in the table. And it's also just a waste of rockets, having half of them go into the wild yonder before you hit a target. In short, Vladoff is the manufacturer that Hyperion wishes it could be. Starts out with fantastic accuracy, especially the snipers, and shoots middling elemental damage at high rate. And half the Vladoff guns I've come across are elemental. One of us either has great or terrible RNG.

fun fact about guns. it's easier to make full auto SMGs than it is to make semi-auto weapons. also fun fact, rifles are harder to make full auto due to how they need lock-up mechanisms just to contain the pressure. final fun-fact, it's not so much the magazines that are the hardest part to make for guns so much as it's the feeding mechanism required for them. for example, belt-feds. the gun needs to simultaneously cycle the bolt to keep firing but drag the belt through the gun in order to keep firing. magazines are actually easy in comparison. just need to make sure the spring pushes the bullets up hard enough so as to keep feeding the gun. it's the feeding mechanism that needs to ensure the gun not only can pick up a round but feeds it into the chamber effectively. lest your gun jam and/or explode. which makes the bandit SMG's PARTICULARLY ludicrous since i've seen those things take two mags for one barrel. how the hell does that thing not jam every other round let alone not explode?

I think a really cool thing is how you tell the size differences between thw manufacturers, especially in BL3. Atlas in BL1, Dahl, Hyperion, and Maliwan are all ridiculously large enough to occupy and invade worlds. Meanwhile S&S, Tediore, and Jakobs feel vastly smaller(Jakobs was small enough that Aurelia truly believed she could buy it) and even then Jakobs had enough money to set up operations on Gehenna and then bomb large parts of the planet. Even the companies size changing between games such as Hyperion growing smaller after BL2 and losing the rights to Atlas, and how that reflected by the types of weapons downsizing.

This is my weapons using code for Borderlands games: I never used Maliwan weapons(well, maybe occasionally), because I didn't like those elemental effects, even in non-Maliwan weapons. I used Tediore weapons only in B1, because they didn't had this stupid reload mechanism there. in B3 Dahl sniper rifles and pistols must have single fire mode, and assault rifles and smgs must have full auto mode( other mode is not important) In B3 Atlas weapons have three types of tagging projectile: darts, puck and grenade. I mainly used darts, because these were the fastest ones to reach target. When it comes to Vladof weapons in B3 I used mostly those with second barrell or stabiliser(this one specially in sniper rifles), because i didn't like that this underslung weapon is not reloadable, you had to wait for it's ammo to "regenerate". I think that rocket launchers are terribly underpowered in all Borderlands games. So these are the rules I was following in choosing weapons while playing each and every Borderlands game.

Talking about bandit/scav weapons having massive magazines while forgetting that all bandits on pandora are engineers from the Dahl corporation that got stuck on pandora/elpis when Atlas scared Dahl into leaving.

I like ti think the reason DAHL guns in BL2/Presequel burst fire when you're ads is because the US military (at least during Vietnam) trained soldiers to burst or single fure thier full auto ARs for better accuracy and to conserve ammo, it just makes sense with DAHLs military aesthetic but thats just my headcannon

Maliwan was always my favorite. I loved them all in their own way, but maliwan just spoke to me. I only ever played Bl1 & BL2 though, so I don't know anything of the lore or what happened afterwards. I loved those games, back when I gamed. I'm an old man now.

In BD2 there's audio log where Jack is with his weapon's engineers having a meeting and he mocks Bandit weapons being used by psychos who can't even spell "gun" and he wants his weapons to have slick design so when you shoot with Hyperion weapons you think you're powerful. I think this is also the reason why Hyperion weapons have basically auto-aim bot, the idea being that they start bot-shooting your target so even the most unskilled person can make a shot and think he's badass.

This video was such a breath of fresh air, It sounds really dumb, but It's super refreshing to hear someone actually curse on KZbin now, people always replace their curses with some obnoxious sound effect or an ear splitting beep lol

I think it could be because some bandits in 2 are canonically the Dahl miners that got stranded, so some probably just started making weapons and joining bandit camps and supplying them

Getting a gun that shoots a sword that explodes into grenades is kind of a plus. I love these games.

the swordsplosion is possibly the best idea of a gun ive seen, i would wanna be in whatever kind of drunken board room meeting that was invented in, "yo so you know explosions are cool or whatever but like EXPLODING SWORDS, now THAT is something i can get behind"
