LITERALLY LIVING IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER IN TREBINJE, BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA

We love living a traveling in a van, especially when we have a stunning view and fascinating places to explore. And when we are lucky enough to wild camp on a river as crystal clear and yet as colorful as this we declare "hidden gem". We were certainly charmed by this small city of Trebinje in the southern region of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Come on, let's take a ride over the impressive Ottoman Bridges, through the bustling local markets, into the historic old town, around a lovely park and into a giant church the likes of which we haven't see thus far on our journey.

As a retired bar owner and paralegal, I can tell you that most grenadine is a mixture of pomegranate juice and sugar. Fancy grenadine adds rose water, orange blossom water, orange zest or lemon juice. I love that location. The church, the river, the people are absolutely wonderful. I am amazed at the lettering. I lived in Trebinje for a total of 7 months last year! I love it there. 💙Beauty, GREAT food, relaxing. Edit: The park is one of my favorite places. I used to take a blanket or beach towel, find a nice tree to lean upon, and read. There's also a cinema next to the park that shows films in English every other week for 5 KM ($2.75). The movies start right on time; there aren't any previews and you bring your own snacks!

I loved this city sooo much. The market was full of healthy choices and some interesting items, I know nothing about but, me being me, I would try some of those items! Lol. I have never in my life seen a river so beautiful and clear and the light there in Bosnia is something sooo different than I have ever seen with the exception of the impressionist painting, as Claud Monet and others, of which I am a fan. The Cathedral and gardens were devine. I loved the kids at the rivers edge. They were soo happy and friendly. What appeared to be practice for a regatta, paddling down the river was picturesque as well. I could take an extended stay there in that city. Thanks so much Curt and Snow. Pomegranate syrup is used in Turkey as a dressing for salad with olive oil. Also, Mix with sumac, and tomato paste, massage it in to chicken thighs before baking or throwing on bbq… delicious

"Kaprica" means caprice, or whim. So that restaurant was someone's whim. And yes, Grenadine is Pomegranate. Also, possibly useful as you travel = "Tea" is written "caj" and pronounced chai. "Coffee" is written "kafa" and pronounced like cafe. I love your wonder and curiosity - you are making a wonderful impression over there.

The garden areas are called allotments.....they are garden plots rented out to people to grow their produce for home use.

Oh my that river, all the fishing possibilities! I would be Over The Moon 🌙 ✨ to fish there. All the water grasses and fish on beds awaiting their served up buffets. The Old Town market looked like a lovely mix of produce, goods, and Café choices. Very nice!

I SAW AMONG THE FRESH STUFF RAMPS! If you have not tried ramps do! They are a wild, they say garlic but taste more like a cross between onions & garlic. Great on home made pizza, stir fry & salad. Does Curt like to fish? I know you don't like fish cooked in rv but just use a BBQ outside.

"Nar Ekşisi", pomegranate syrup (also sometimes translated as pomegranate molasses), produced by boiling down pomegranate juice with added sugar, resulting in a thick, rich, deeply red and fully-flavoured liquid. Orthodox churches do not have pews. The people stand for the service. Sometimes they will have a few chairs for the elderly. They are beautiful churches .
