Hi, thanks for your question! Always check the marking criteria / academic regulations for your college / university but here are the key things I look for in a literature review: // 1. Comprehensive coverage // * Extensive understanding of the research area, covering a wide range of relevant sources. * Should include seminal works, recent studies, and diverse perspectives to provide a comprehensive overview of the existing knowledge. // 2. Clear research questions and focus // * Well-defined research questions or objectives that guide the selection and analysis of the literature. * Maintain a clear focus throughout, ensuring that all included sources directly contribute to addressing the research questions / objectives. // 3. Critical analysis // * Goes beyond summarising existing studies. Describes, interprets and evaluates the sources included. * Synthesises the findings and arguments from various sources to create a cohesive narrative. * It should identify common themes, conflicts, and emerging trends, highlighting the connections and gaps in the literature. * Highlights the strengths, weaknesses, and gaps in the literature, demonstrating the ability to think critically and contribute insights to the research area. // 4. Organization and structure // * Logically structured and easy to follow. It should have a clear introduction, main body, and conclusion. * Themes or topics should be effectively grouped, and transitions between different sections should be smooth and coherent. // 5. Effective writing style // * Well-written, with clear and concise language. * Avoiding jargon and using appropriate academic terminology is important. * Proper citation and referencing of sources are essential, adhering to the required style guide.
