I think Salieri proved that he was just as violent, greedy, and selfish as Morello. It’s just that he was more composed than Morello, which made him seem like the better man. Salieri made the biggest mistake of a crime boss when he lied to Tommy and Paulie. In the criminal world, if you show yourself untrustworthy to your own people, they have no choice but to put their own lives above the family.

I am from Czech republic. This game was created by us. And the guy who had a lot to do with it. Dan Vavra don't like even single thing about the game. He is the guy behind Kingdom Come Deliverance. He don't like more thing than he do. But hearing from him what mafia 2 was supposed to be... it could have been even better. But they decided to cut out too many things. Yet. Mafia 2 is one of the best games ever to this day. And mafia 3? Since he and ofc most people who worked on the original series were not included... It was meh. I enjoyed it after many years. But it definitely is the worst one of them all in many ways. And recently he revelaed that in mafia 3 you were supposed to play two main roles. Like the cop and mafia guy at the same time. Now it's more common then before. But they had this vision 2 years before gta5 vas released and had literally this option for more main characters. Mafia 3 could have been a gem. No matter what person Petr Vavra is. He stands for his ideas. And in the gaming industry, they are not bad at all. We'll see.

Bullshit - Vávra is considered a god only by similarly spirited individuals who do not look beyond the horizon of their own ego as he does. At the moment, he is just a self-centered moron who, as a result of his acquired fame, has acquired the impression that he has devoured all the wisdom of the world. One of the members of the suffering white male population who are plagued by socio-cultural changes in which they cease to be the "navel of the world" (not sure if there is an idiom for that in English). That he can create stories, however, cannot be denied. But that is the end of it.

Great game. There are some things I like to say about the ending. In the OG version, Sam was happy to betray Tommy and Paulie because he was greedy and he was little jealous of Tommy. He told Tommy that the hooker actually came back to town years after Tommy spare her and they found her by accident. In the OG game, Sam never ask Tommy to spare her, Tommy chose to spare her because he didn't like killing women. He even brag about killing her himself when they found her. In the OG game, Tommy testify against Salieri and the family and because of that Salieri got life while some got life and some got the chair and Tommy did time himself in a secret prison. Years later, Tommy is an old man and he's watering his lawn and a car pull, two guys got out and approached him and called him out by his name. As he turned around they pulled a shotgun and shot him and in the end he had a surprise look on his face as if he didn't expect this and he dies alone on his lawn. In the remake, Sam betrays Tommy and Paulie not out of greed but out of fear, fear of Salieri. He knews that Salieri had changed over the years and he's no longer the respected businessman he once was since he was betrayed by Frank and started sell drugs like Morello. It's possible that he told Salieri about the bank job out of fear in case if he decided to kill Tommy and Paulie for going behind his back then he would kill him for not telling him. Sam loved Tommy and Paulie like brothers but I believe that it was his fear of Salieri that made him betray them. In the remake, same thing happened, Tommy testify against Salieri, Salieri got life, Tommy did time and years later he was gunned down on his lawn. But the difference is that while old Tommy was watering his lawn and the hitmen called him out by his name, he dropped the water hose and slowly turned around to face them because he expected that this would happen eventually. When they called his name, he knew it was over him which is why he turned around slowly, slightly smile and accept his fate. After he was shoted, he told his family they was safe now because he knew that with him gone, his family is safe and dies on his lawn surrounded by his family. Kinda a slight happier ending than the OG if you ask me.

They also changed the Cigars/Diamonds/Drugs job in the Remake. In the OG Salieri told them it was cigars and Tommy didn't question it, they later discovered it actually was diamonds. Tommy and Paulie got angry that the Don was screwing them out of the value of the job and hit the bank because they got greedy too.

One misunderstanding is that mafia definitive edition is a a remaster of the first mafia game. But it is actually a complete remake . It isn't the oldest but the newest game in the franchise. This is something to keep in mind when u play mafia 2. Mafia 2 is only remastered so the gamplay and such are older then the game you just played. That being said I hope u enjoy mafia 2 as much as tnis one

I loved Tommy's character, but what he did throughout the years he was part of Salieri's crew... He was digging his own grave. It started with the punks in the car who were pestering Sarah. Tommy just couldn't bring himself to kill them. He was reminded again, and again about loyalty. But despite that, letting the girl go in the cathouse, when he was specifically instructed to take her out, letting Frank go when he was specifically instructed to take him out, robbing the bank, when he knew that one of the rules is no solo jobs. So this ending, completely understandable. And to be honest, not really unpredictable. The Mafia never forgets. Never.

Well done. If you're gonna play Mafia 2, I heavily recommend the original 2010 version. It has less bugs and somehow has better facial expressions than the 2020 version. In the case of Mafia 2, there is no difference between the classic and the definitive edition, the definitive version just has different graphics and different gun sound effort than the classic one.

Also if you are planning to play Mafia 3 playtrough too, I recommend you a mod that removes all grindy missions in Mafia 3 it's called "RACKET DAMAGE MISSIONS REMOVAL MOD" in Nexus Mod and makes the game full focused on story and more enjoyable.. and i think story of Mafia 3 is amazing... Also Mafia 3 has so many copyright music in the cutscenes thats why you may not want to play it.. And even if you mute musics i think it may have kill the beauty of the cutscenes because musics is one of the best thing in Mafia 3.

This remake is actually built from scratch using the Mafia 3 game engine. There is, to my knowledge, no trace of the original game in there. The story beats are the same, but all the dialogue was rewritten or expanded with new voice actors. The Mafia 2 you're about to play is just the original Mafia 2 with upscaled graphics. So there's gonna be some tonal whiplash but the story is indeed, VERY good.

In the original they think they're genuinely going for cigars and diamonds are the surprise they get annoyed about when they get back (apart from Sam who I think knows it's for diamonds if I'm remembering right). I kind of understand the change but it's a bit unusual they get all twitchy over the bank job in the mission intro and not the diamonds as if they were caught stealing diamonds from the government they'd only get a slap on the wrist, that's why the change doesn't work that well and was unnecessary for me.

Keep in mind, the reason we are so hyped for Mafia 2 is because of the story, atmosphere, and tone of the game. The actual gameplay is older as it is a 2010 game (this Mafia DE was a 2020 remake). So in my personal opinion, Mafia 2 does improve on this game everywhere other than the graphics and arguably the gameplay. I think the guns in Mafia 2 pack more of a punch and feel better to shoot though haha

Alright, in terms of what's different in the Remake compared to the Original game. First off, they added a bit more expanded character development to most of the cast (Paulie, Sam, Salieri, Frank, Sarah etc), to better show their motivations and so on. Some of the chapters are very different from the originals, one example being the Armored Machine Gun Van/Tank, that was not at all present in the original. Another example is the late night "cigar/diamond" crates heist. In the original you had to get a disguise and MANUALLY load the marked crates in the truck, during the day. And if memory serves, you had to time the loading of the crates, because if the guards where watching they would go "Hey, that's not the right crate to load". Also, in the original, they were actually diamonds you would steal. In the remake they changed it, to add to the Salieri character, showing that in the end, he was not going to be much different than Morello. And I think, they changed Tommy's speech a bit during the finale. With him acting shocked in the original that he was found, while in the remake, he knew the day would come and accepted it head on. I think they are more changes from the original, such as there were no collectibles as far as I remember, plus other small things.

While, obviously, you're not playing as Tommy, I will say Tommy is referenced in some way somehow, be it big or small. That was one thing I loved about the series. They're set a decade or two apart, but the main character from the prior game is mentioned in the later game. It may be important, it may be trivial, but it's a cool link.

Biggest disappointment about this game is that Salieri become a hypocrite and was selling drugs (In the original game he didn't, but concealed that the boxes had Diamonds instead of drugs)

This is a really good remake overall. The original was great for the time, but really is a chore to play nowadays unless you played it before and are nostalgic. It improves upon the original in almost every way, and adds little more character interactions which add a good amount of new depth.
