That lithium battery seems to have done the trick Dan. I remember the videos when you were having these issues. Good to see it's still going strong 2 years on!

Thanks mate. Yes it has fixed every issue I ever had with the electrical system. Some think it couldn't be the battery, but the KTM needs a lot of power.

@@biker_dan the battery certainly has sorted out the electrical issues

Yep, yiur lithium advice saved my sanity while I owned my 1290SA. Moved on since then but it cured all the nasty gremlins within the KTM electrical minefield!

Glad it helped,,, what you riding now mate?

@biker_dan An older R1200RT. I really enjoy it but wish I would have just kept the F6B which I bought brand new. Went from new 2016 F6B for 5yrs, to a used 2015 KTM 1290SA, now to an 2008 BMW R1200RT. All great bikes but I miss the Honda most!

You cant beat the Honda, My Goldwing is a 2010 but it is running perfectly and in very good condition,, I use it to do a but touring with the wife, but when im commuting the KTM is the clear winner,

Seems on the previous Gen 1290s are pretty good since the main thing you have to look out for is the battery. They New generation 1290s have added engine issues on a few of them. But still not enough to keep me from buying a 1290 SAS. 2 years seems the limit those batteries last. Thanks for this update video.

Yes,, I had issues from day one, wasn't till I put in the new type that the problems went away.,. Think it is the C-BUS that causes it all.

@biker_dan indeed. No sense in getting rid of it now. I'm glad your keeping it

Another good informative video made. What touring bag is that on the back ?

That was a cheap waterproof one I picked up at AMX, nice and light so you can't tell it is there, but it holds a lot of shopping lol.

Seems to be a common issue. Picky with batteries. Do you leave it on a battery maintainer or does the bike sit uncharged for long times? I always keep a battery maintainer on it. USe the quick connect and it's easy to plug in and out. Seems to extend life of the battery. Doesn't the lithium battery need different charging ? Since I see chargers that have different charging modes for lithium batteries....
@biker_dan6 ай бұрын
I do use a trickle charger but only if the bike is going to sit for a couple of weeks, but normally I use the KTM daily. Many chargers will tell you what they will work on, mine will charge Lithium, Gel and the normal led acid battery, I do believe Lithium needs less charging than non lithium although I don't know how true that is. Cheers

@@biker_dan Thanks, I was more talking about hte charging the bike does while riding. Is that ok for Lithium?
@biker_dan6 ай бұрын
@@azr2d1Ah yes sorry, it does charge ok, I'm sure it charges at 14.1v while riding which was the same as the other battery's. Cheers
