yeah i mean tbf tho tidal did go about as crazy as you would expect in mermail. that shit was basically a custom card for that deck, especially if you were already an undine fan. but yeah nah i remember being there as a kid and for whatever reason thinking that pure dragon rulers as a rank 7 turbo deck wouldn't immediately kick a deck like mermail out of the meta that only made like 1 rank 7

I think people don't realize that you can use the light XYZ dragon to send Tidal and foolish anything, and then on the opponent's turn send Redox to revive anything. You can literally just pop out Barrier Statues, Kristya, Slifer, whatever.

​​​@@carstan62standards are...higher, lol. but honestly? not by much. like tbf, the modern concept of a "circular" being any new support card that has like 3 different effects that are all the 3 strongest things an archetype can possibly do is still worth complaining about in 2024, but imagine being there in 2013 when they release 12 monsters that all have the same 2 effects +1 unique effect. so much crazier than anything the game had seen in the last 11 years combined and probably started the trend of yugioh players not bothering to read because i definitely remember seeing the rulers for the first time or maybe mermails at the earliest and thinking "are these text boxes getting smaller or what"

I've been running an Armed Dragunity Ruler deck in MD the last couple years. I prefer it over rose package because Ravine plus rulers just shit out card advantage, and you can run a striker + boot sector without any rokkets so that any 2 dragons becomes combo with Romulus. With the new Rulers the list will definitely be changing, but Armed Dragons shit out level 7s and pile armed is just a superior baby ruler, so I can see the deck working great with the new support.

you should definetly keep 3 Pile and one of each 3,5,7 imo, the engine is not that big and still gives you the opportunity not to go for that many 2 for one trades

@@multimate7760 I prefer Pilex3, flashx3, 3x3, 5x2, and 7x1. Namely because there are scenarios where you wish you had the extras in the deck to continue your combo, and we want our card count higher to lower chance of drawing garnets. Because of Romulus any 2 dragons are combo, so we can afford to go bigger deck. I only run 3 Rulers at 2 of, and only 2 babies in the deck in total, mainly because the babies die hard to ash/called by, the two most common cards.

@@xxheroesftwxx6930 I can post a video with a list and the main combos. It's a very nonlinear deck, so the optimal play varies wildly depending on the hand, but there are lots of patterns. There's one real normal summon in the deck, Dragunity Guisarme, searched in basically every combo off Dragon Ravine. On a weak hand sometimes the normal is used elsewhere though.

@@strangevol5264 because you still foolish 2 Rulers for cost either way and if they stop you from sending an Amorphage sloth or Krystia with the Tidal effect you still can just use the pop effect on their turn. If they don't have an answer you basically just auto win with a 2800atk vanity's emptiness. Tldr: you lose next to nothing for trying to set up a game winning floodgate because you can adapt based on what your opponent is doing

tenpai cards are absolutely insane in this deck as dora dora gives you genroku, which becomes level 4 to make the level 7 tenpai synchro which revives genroku, tagging out into paidra into kaimen into chundra for another level 7 synchro or seals. the gy effect of the tenpai synchro is just the cherry on top so the tenpai engine gets you into rulers or chasmatis can be used to search a tenpai card

Instead of the quick play the deck should run a armored XYZ engine. This way you get the Towers with field/gy banish on the opponents turn while also being able to search it consistently.

the new rules probably should be palyed with dragon maids. not only are they the only other elemental dragon archetype but they give a 1 card normal summon combo that ends in a link 2 and a omninegate. at the same time can you use the dragon rules to fusion summon and they can search the maids. i do wonder if that was intentional to give the 2 only elemental dragons in the game support at the same time

I think that 3 Pile Armed Dragon and one of each Armed Dragon Thunder lv 3,5,7 add so much to this deck, they change quite a few of the 2 for one trades into one for one trade, they can search Tempest and Tempest can search any dragon in combination with them, Pile is a LV 7 dragon extender etc.

If u can make the 2 new lvl 7 xyz (which is pretty easy) u can on ur turn use white xyz tidal effect foolish barrier statue set new spell pass their turn use white again turn into redux reborn barrier statue so that’s a flood gate with a spell trap negate and u can use the set spell if they out all that and make a chaos emperor dragon that’s untargetable and play skill drain main

the best version will probably be a handtrap version with super rejuv. having 2 more really good babys should keep those rejuvs alive. it got played like this at full force already but back then we basically only had veiler as a really good handtrap. maxx c is kinda redantent when you draw half your deck anyway and ddcrow was too situational.

Problem is that we lost the 6th card in opening hand, and for a deck like rulers to get started, THAT HURTS. Also, you’re forced to play A LOT of handtraps or non engine, so super reju sounds busted in theory, buy awkward in practice.
