Where it goes now will depend on Lehrmann’s lawyers, because the only way they can be paid is if there is a successful appeal. Reynolds case is based on Higgins statement about a coverup, so has no relationship to whether or not Higgins was raped. I think it was a case of how much money Higgins was prepared to pay. Fiona Brown also has a case against Higgins, which looks like a winner. It is interesting that they don’t have cases against Wilkinson/Ten but maybe they paid up. Brown is looking the person who was most defamed, and may also have a case against the Commonwealth for workers comp.

I have a wierd feeling that hes actually innocent after seeing how terrible her evidence was and how personal that judge was. I tell all men that go near women nowadays to sign a waiver especially if going to a secluded area. It used to only be celebrities like leonardo dicaprio that had to get women to sign these papers, but now gold diggers are attacking your average income earners

Lehrmann went back for his hat and we know how that worked out but for me the question is who the hell is paying HIS lawyers, much less the other litigants. We know Kerry Stokes paid for Roberts-Smith defamation case but for Lehrmann to march into that court without 8-10 million dollars (the estimates being thrown around for all the lawyers involved in the case) strikes me as a joke.

After all this I still don't know who or what to believe. I don't understand why the compensation was awarded before the legal process was concluded. It feels like there is a lot more to the story than has been revealed, and because it happened in Canberra, perhaps the whole truth will never be known.

@@blackscorpion-h8i The case was held in a federal court and ruled by a federal court judge. I don't quite understand how it was a civil case. Regardless, the fact remains the same. I'm not saying he did not do it. I don't know. But the balance of PROBABILITIES does not prove he did it.
@djanitatiana

The media shouldn't be calling him a rapist technically, since he was not found guilty in a criminal court, but since the findings of this civil case established the balance of probabilities (at this point, we'll see if he appeals) then he won't really be able to do anything about it, he certainly can't sue them for libel. Shows the society we currently live in.

He's still got another pending rape trial in Toowoomba to face yet. Bruiser may find himself getting turned from offender to deeply offended
@Truthseeker371
@Truthseeker371 6 ай бұрын
The central issue is consential sex or not. It was the case that happened at a very particular place, the Parliament House, but the crime per se was the question of rape or consential sex, nothing more critical than that. However, the case involved an extraordinarily huge payout, the one sided media report, and defamation cases involving mostly everyone concerned. Who is the biggest loser? The tax payers. Punishment for sexual seduction may have to be considered to prevent unreasonable cases in the future. Finally, it still bothers me why the "victim" followed the offender to the workplace where it was clear the entry was out of the hours.

Higgin's story stinks to high heaven. She was clearly focused on avoiding losing her job/reputation in the beginning, and I think she started to lean into a small lie to protect herself and then it snowballed and opportunists got in her ear. And that's not to say Bruce is an angel, he was extremely dumb and lied on a number of things, plus he was cheating on his gf, but that doesn't mean the sex wasn't consensual.

Lehrmann should have been asked to put up security for costs, or the case shouldn't have proceeded! I don't understand why the defendants didn't ask for that right from the beginning, or maybe they did and I just didn't hear about it. HE KICKED HIMSELF IN THE NUTS IN THE END.
