Little Brown Church in the Vale

We went to Nashua, Iowa to get footage of the actual church in the song. Thanks to Mark Wilcox, who usually sings and plays drums, but took video and did a lot of driving on this trip.
I sing most of the vocals including all the lead.
Ricky Nalett, from L.A. Productions in Lansing, did a wonderful job. He came up with the instrumental arrangement, played almost all the keyboards, sang some bass and recorded the audio. He also took some of the video and put the final product together! KUDOs, Rick!!
Nikki Zeeb contributed harmony vocals.
Donny Brown, as always, did an amazing job on the drums!!

Having attended a service at The Little Brown Church in October 2022, it is worth mentioning that they close services by singing the song and ringing the bell. Very nice, friendly people make up the congregation and will make anyone feel welcome. It is well worth a visit if you’re ever close to Nashua, Iowa.

I found out the location of the little brown church while in Florida caring for my aging mother and hoped to visit it one day. Several years later I went to visit my sister and her husband and in Waterloo Iowa and he informed me that the church was only a 45 minutes drive from them and he took me there and I was in my own paradise. I was beside myself just seeing it! They had a pencil portrait of the author of the song hanging on the wall. I learned that the song was written before the church was built very near the spot where the building is now. My biggest surprise was that on the far left Just beyond the left back window is a table where there are a few nic-nacks. I looked below and noticed something that most people don't and those who do, don't have a clue what they were. The table wasn't a table at all but the bellows to a portable PUMP ORGAN (AKA-REED ORGAN that was probably the original organ of the church! I also appreciated the fact that in the front of the church, there is a little store where you can purchase various momentos of the church in a TRUST basis. I hope to return there soon.

Sweetly anointed! Brought tears from memories of the little church that I went to as a little girl growing up in Ks. It had a congregation of 100. Neighbors picked us up for Sunday School, and all of the other wkly services. They paid my way to Summer Bible Camp. It is still very dear to my ❤️; all of the songs still stand strong in my spirit. I am 82 now, & have lived in Calif., for 60 yrs, but when I reflect on those days, I feel so very blessed that God’s plan was for me to be a part of that small congregation, all those years ago. And God guided me to your humble ❤️ to hear your song this night. It was very soothing to my sad state of mind, from the recent loss of my first husband. It’s mysteriously wondrous how God guides us to listen to, or see certain songs, things, etc., to comfort us. May He bless & increase your ministry, and the beautiful way of simplicity in which you bring forth the song of the little brown church in the wildwood; the little church in the vale. That’s a good version…if you want to hear another great version, Andy Griffith did a real good version…I liked the Andy Griffith show, but recently found out that he was a gospel singer and was also a minister…check out his version… he sang it with Don Knotts on the show but did a version when he was older, probably around the Matlock era… it’s on one of his albums…

I was two weeks from being homeless, ive been praying, i went to church and the congregation prayed for me… I found a place to live… my eviction is because the house is in foreclosure… I always pay the rent… I want to praise GOD… he saved me at the 11th hour… thank you JESUS…Amen…
