@pravum31503 жыл бұрын
@@h3nry_t122 Old houses are fairly well built as compared to modern houses. The same principles they used to build their houses are still used to this day, in several aspects older homes are actually better built and made from stronger material than the normal modern home. Some houses even use the same material like stone that are used in building the massive churches, fortresses and castles that stood the test of time. That's why we can see some really old houses still standing even if so many years pass and the modern home is lucky if it survives for 1 or 2 decades before it's rebuilt. Back then things were built to last, now they were built to be replaced considering modern advancement makes it easier to do. Architecture back then was also considered a sacred practice. Craftsmen and workers spend their lives mastering the thing they learned from their parents or their teacher. Master builders make master works. On the topic of peasants never seeing it or coming even close. Remember these are really tall and massive cathedrals that can be seen even at the cities edges. Houses mostly don't go taller than 2 stories so anybody can see the campanile in the distance if they look up. The architecture in the video are also mostly churches that are intended to be used in service, so these peasants are allowed inside and mostly occupy the lower aisles and seats. The everyday peasant has seen and have been in these places. If the common man is not allowed in these structure then what was the point of building them? People love older architecture because of the raw passion and beauty they exude. They may be built for the rich, the church or whoever but one thing is clear - these buildings were made with the pride of masters who spend their lives finding out how to make something that will still stand until the end of time.

We need these buildings to house as many people as possible, but we also need the architectures of old so that there is some beauty, and quality in this world, and also to give a good-looking shelter for the upper middle class and the upper class who can afford it. And our economic and political systems all over the world need to be fixed to get this balance. Both capitalism and socialism will never create the old kind of architecture which we love and appreciate everywhere, because on one end we compromise on beauty and quality to help as many as possible, and on the other end we compromise on beauty and quality to make it as profitable as possible. And both these extremes occur because the greedy and corrupt politicians work for themselves and not for the nation.

@londonspade5896 quite popular, I dont have interest in architecture as a career path anymore but I'd say the moment my friends understood the fundamentals of palladian architecture, it made the first stages of designing a space much easier. I think theres a bias though, all of us had this one tutor at some point in our bachelors that absolutely sold us on palladian architecture. I'm sure theres other schools that do the same for abbasid, or persian, or gothic for example. But the way my tutor put it, palladian architecture is the backbone of any architecture thereafter in the west, so its a good place to start if you want to be a good architect. Lots of nice rules to follow, which helped me as i have adhd and need a bit of order in my thinking

theres a misconception that Capitalism is the cause of Minimalism. this is false, its socialism, but not for the reason that people think its socialism. It's not socialism by any means of policy but instead by culture. We have, as a society, associated showing off wealth and rich people as bad, and so buildings that are large opulent and pretty are the antithesis of our socialist culture. The greatest proof that capitalism is not the cause of Minimalism is the buildings under Laissez faire Capitalism, they are rather opulent, take gilded age mansions for example. In fact, while I believe that "late stage" capitalism doesn't exist, if there was a architectural style to be correlated with it that would be Art Deco with its extravagance and use of gold and details.

One of the main and most popular aspects of medieval times is it's architecture. Every castle had to be defensive and sustainable, and of course, practical in most uses. Theyy ended up serving all three purposes along with looking super cool. Medieval buildings like watchtowers and fortresses, holdfasts and halls, were all built at a time with little to no electrical machinery (at the very least, not in terms of construction). Each one is unique. A good way to experience this (at least to an extent) is playing the Assassin's Creed series. AC: Brotherhood showed Rome's amazing architecture. Yes, the buildings there pre-date medieval times by centuries, and yes, the game is set during the Renaissance, but you could explore the Colosseum, the Mausoleo de Augusto, the Pantheon, and many more. From infamous buildings, to arches and bridges, information is provided. It's like each has its own story. Architecture in those times was truly unique and masterful. The fact that they still stand and you almost feel and experience it's glorious-ness is an open testimony to this.
