It is believed that Penrith was visited by European settlement in 1789 when Watkin Tench mentioned being in the area.
As time went on it turned into a real city and engulfed many of the smaller surrounding towns
The Penrith area came up leaps and bounds in the late 1800s and the need for a non-denomination cemetery was established,
Within the cemetery many others were buried over time and still are today.
It is a large cemetery, and we had to have a look, but it was larger than we expected so we had to cut the video shorter.
We took a look at the Anglican section and the search for a grave of a little girl, Doris Vivan, who was the first to be buried there.
At age 5, Doris succumbs to Diphtheria. Her story is a little different and we wanted to share it with you.
Enjoy and we will be back at Penrith General in the future!
