Thought I would upload this backstage interview for all Lowell George fans .. it's worth it just for the short bit of "Sweet China White". I found this on a 1983 Rockpalast Classics video I recorded.. the original Essen concert with Rory Gallagher and Little Feat was broadcast live all over Europe in 1977.

Ol' Lowell sang better with a cigarette in his mouth than anyone today with electronic enhancements. Plus, one hell of a slide guitarist.

Whoa, those acapella harmonies, amazing how the whole band just picked up the cue & launched into it, soulful & true... Feats don't fail me now. "When backstage is even better than onstage..." What a GENUINE band, loaded with talent, blues & soul, & musical integrity from head to toe. As others have commented, Lowell didn't sing half bad with a cigarette in his mouth (he likes 'em backwards). Too bad that Lowell George (1945-1979) & the classic Little Feat lineup were so short-lived; Little Feat without Lowell George wasn't quite the same thing. He will always be missed by musicians & fans alike. R.I.P. Richie Hayward (1946-2010) R.I.P. Paul Barrere (1948-2019)

Back when musicians lived and breathed music ... every day. It wasn't a career or being signed to a label, but a way of life. Probably the reason why the music still sounds so amazing: because it's real, unpertentious and honest. R.I.P. Lowell George. Thank you.

Lowell George was able to convey in such a small space intense, deep soul and dedication to real blues. I keep returning to this clip just to be close to the magic, it’s a touchstone for me. Very few, if any have done it as well since. Rest In Peace Lowell, your music carries on forever and influences so many who came after you. Thank you.

Also because of when you've played together for a long time you're in sort of common that the guys play things that may you open your eye a little; but like in this environment when they get together not rehearsing or playing live for a long time, this is a time to be amazed how talented your bandmates are. I've read the books about LF.

Lowell George is so talented, soulfully singing' and playing slide on guitar. He's got it naturally, not even trying to make that sound. Good thing is we can still listen to Little Feat albums with Lowell here in KZbin. Pure talent. Still listening and watching today, September 23, 2020.

Heck yeah. After a day of listening to my favorite band for 41 years, there is nothing better than background info. Sweet China White on demand was strong. Lately I've been wondering how the addition of the TOP horns to the WFC tour came about. I'm interested because there seems to have been some bit ofstrain on the band and yet they produced a world class tour and album that I am obsessed with some 40 odd years later.

Quite likely the most underknown guitar great of all time. Also, a wonderful vocalist along with being a top notch songwriter. Died in 1979 from a Heart Attack; likely due to his increasing affinity for speedballs along with his extreme obesity. They'll never be another like him!

You're absolutely right Chief. I don't know why I put down OD; perhaps because Lowell was performing China White? I was speaking with someone very close to the band about Lowell, and that person used the term "Chronic Excess" when I mentioned Lowell's death. Was saddened to hear that Paul Barrere passed away in 2019, and Richie Hayward died in 2010. Last time I saw them was in a parking lot in Vegas in 1997. Shaun Murphy was their lead singer and Fred Tackett had joined the band. One of the most talented bands that I've ever seen. Take care, stay well, and Peace!
