@@MrKelleyzinho yeah but in that "southern rock" or "jam band" genre that they are usually lumped in with they never stood out with the likes of Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker band, the Dead, and list goes on. Commercially they did do pretty well but are really only known for one song.

You’ve just cracked the door to an amazing rabbit hole that is Little Feat. This hole is filled with great treasures of music. There are a number of albums filled with some of life, strife, politics and drug references of the ‘70’s. I highly recommend these songs: Feats Don’t Fail Me Now, Willin’, Tripe Face Boogie, and my favorite Spanish Moon (the best version is a later one released on their Join the Band CD). Your face may freeze with a residual smile as you spelunk your way along. Love your channel!!!

Lowell George, singer, principal songwriter, band leader and producer, was a speedball fanatic who died of and overdose inspired heart attack at the age of 36. He lived every word he sang, and that's why he could sing the blues with such conviction. The band grooved in the pocket like nobody else.

I mean, singing about speddballs and streetwalkers and such on a t.v. show! What's not to love about Little Feat. I was lucky enough to see them when they came to Australia in (I think 75).I had never heard of them, but in those days in this country, if you were from overseas we went to see. Love me some Little Feat. Live performances can be hit or miss, I find that they can't always capture the same energy, but they hit it out of the park on this one.

Check out Time Loves a Hero, Spanish Moon, and Feats Don't Fail Me Now....The entire "Waiting For Columbus" album is Fantastic!! I feel this band should be much more popular than they are.....Get them in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame already!!!!

Lowell George was with Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention. Frank did not like his drug use and drug references in the music he wrote but was very impressed with his talents. Frank encouraged him to form his own band and so developed Little Feat. Several Feat numbers have direct or indirect drug lyrics.

I saw Little Feat live in the 70’s when they opened for Linda Ronstadt. They had the house rockin’! I believe she had a little fling with Lowell George (the lead singer) back in the day. Then they became friends and he wrote her hit song, “Willin’”. Another life that ended too soon.

In the 1960's, many sitcoms had a "Beatles" episode where a band of long hairs would come into town and the band would have a bug name like the Beatles did. For Gilligan's Island, it was The Mosquitoes. For F-Troop, Lowell George (the lead singer here) led a group of long hairs called The Bedbugs to Fort Courage. You can find it on KZbin....

Until Lowell died, they were one of the greatest bands ever, IMO. After, they didn't work for me, even though they have tons of fans for that period of their music.

Too bad....Let It Roll was a great album. Put all of their catalog into either Gold or Platinum sales. It opened an entire new generation to the Feat. For that...in my book...it's the greatest LF album ever made.

There was a great radio station located in Raleigh, NC during the seventies, call letters WQDR. They specialized in "album rock." They certainly played a lot of Little Feat. This song sounded incredible on my ESS speakers!

Sadly, on June 29, 1979, George collapsed and died of a heart attack in his Arlington, Virginia hotel room at the Twin Bridges Marriott. His heart attack was caused by an accidental cocaine overdose. A speed ball is a mixture of cocaine and heroin and then injected and it;s what killed John Belushi.

I'm a huge Lowell George fan. He, and the Feat were held in the highest of esteem down in the deep south where I'm from. I don't know about all you yankees, cowboys and sh*tkickers, to us they were/are golden. They're from Baltimore, which is considered to be a southern city, by the way. Hoy hoy.

My oldest son was Feat's guitar technician for about 10 years, up until about 6 months ago. He went to Jamaica every year for their Ramble On the Island fan fest. They recently fired their long time drummer Gabe Ford, who is guitarist Robben Ford's nephew. I've got tons of autographed memorabilia and pics of my boy with folks like Jackson Browne. Good stories, too. 😊💜💚💛✌️
