I got to see them in the early 90s when they were still in top form with Craig Fuller manning Lowell's vocals. They were amazing and I was just a couple rows from the stage. RIP Lowell, Paul and Richie, you're missed dearly.

Such a fun band. First reaction I’ve seen of yours and I absolutely loved your synopsis at the start. These guys take such a light hearted, chill approach to writing that I can vibe with. Instant good mood. Funky as hell. These are the kind of songs that make us all realize we’re not so different and can all get along when we’re cutting a rug on the dance floor. Looking forward to the rest of your reactions

Yep I was going to reference the band and the last waltz also. Man a lot they are so many similarities in the style and I think what they both have as much as anything else is the fact they they are so in time with each other and show that a great band is a different level than a group of wildly talented musicians. They all had so many hours of playing for practice, playing for money and playing for fun and getting to know each others timing and styles to the point of perfect predictions of each others improvisations. Those two bands were perfectly timed machines firing on all cylinders and really enjoying every moment of it until they put the instruments down. I think they are both vastly overlooked and under appreciated bands on the big scale. They are both in my top five most impressive bands for many reasons and have been my number one for long periods of time. But I will also admit after that long ass kissing comment my number one rock and roll band of all time is Lynard Skynard. But they all three remind me of each other in many facets and they are all very unique at the same time. ✌🏿

This track is a great example of what Lowell George wanted to create, a musical "cracked mosaic" where the whole picture is visible but has interesting, almost random "cracks" in the sound and groove.

I stopped listening to Little Feat (1969-1979) after Lowell George passed in 1979. Lowell George (Lead vocal, songwriter, slide guitar) actually quit the band just before his death as tensions grew within the band over creative differences. They later reformed, but that Lowell George vocal CANNOT be duplicated in whole! Little Feat made 8 records with Lowell George: Little Feat (1971), Sailin Shoes (1972), Dixie Chicken (1973), Feats Don't Fail Me now (1974), The Last Record Album (1975), Time Loves A Hero (1977), Waiting On Columbus (1978), and Down On The Farm (1979) which was finnished up after LG passed. After reforming in 1987 with Craig Fuller (Co-founder of Pure Prarie League), many more records were produced (1987-Present). The band fused broad styles of genres, Rock, Jazz, Country, and Blues into a very distinctive sound and produced some notable playlist jams within those first 8 records. Can't speak for the music post 1979. ....... not familiar with it. Some must-listens from the first 8 records: Time Loves A Hero, New Delhi Freight Train, Fat Man In The Bathtub, Spanish Moon, Dixie Chicken, and Willin. Great reaction, TY

Hey Britt, just subscribed. LF is one of my all-time favorite bands!!! Yeah Lowell writes ingenious lyrics with a lot of colorful inuendos. Lowell is one of the best storytellers IMHO. For this tune I think Lowell was writing a bit about himself with the interpretation of his struggles of self-acceptance.But there's a lot of room for different interpretations. All-in-all this song resonates with many poeple musically, as well as, personally with the story. That's why its such a favorite. You can play LF any time, day or night and it will put a big smile on your face.

It's not just "Time Loves a Hero", it's the way those songs run together on that third side of the double album. Doesn't it go into "Spanish Moon"? The way they just oozed from one song to another on Waiting For Columbus was startling because it was flawless. What Britt was talking about hinged on the overwhelming team effort on percussion. Have you ever heard a bunch of people banging on shit with such a union of purpose? Everything meshes.

Bonnie Raitt's slide guitar playing was greatly influenced by vocalist/guitarist Lowell George. George played in one of Frank Zappa's early bands, and the drummer there remarked on Lowell's little feet - so that's where the name came from. I think substitute teacher Garvey would probably say Jonita.
@kenennis6287

The story I heard was that when Lowell was with Zappa he brought "Willin'" to him and Frank wanted nothing to do with it. Lowell said I'll do it with my own band. Frank replied that would be no little feat
@-R.Gray-
@-R.Gray- Жыл бұрын
@@kenennis6287 I read that Frank, who was anti-drugs, rejected the song because of its drug references. In an interview Frank said about Lowell "There's another guy who shouldn't do drugs." I probably read about Zappa's drummer, Jimmy Carl Black bugging Lowell about his little feet years ago in a guitar magazine article about the band, or a Lowell G. interview - but if you Google "little feat name origin" they tell the same story.

Britt you gotta keep in mind not all music videos are literal interpatations of the song's lyrics. When MTV was at its peak there were people that were music video directors. Record labels would give them crazy big budgets to make videos with. A lot of the times the music video directors vision for the video would have nothing to do with the song. Perfect example of a music video that makes fun of this concept is the video for "Oh , Sherrie" by Steve Perry from his solo album outside of Journey. The video opens with a medieval wedding and Steve dressed in a ridiculous costume. After a few minutes Steve can't take it , takes off the costume and walks off the set & the video actually begins. You should do that song & the official video to go with it & you'll understand what i'm talking about.

@@brittreacts Willin' by Little Feat still stands as a recommendation. But in terms of REO Speedwagon, the more that I think about it, you should listen to the audio in the studio cut keep on rolling. It's just brilliant and I promise you it will take you to church. But, on the other hand, they also had a massive hit that I know you would like from earlier on, and this one the studio cut is fantastic but the live version is Iconic. Golden Country. #RIP Gary.

A lot of the album art for Little Feat was done by the artist,Neon Park. I can't say if he did the art in the video, but it seems to use many of his images and done in his style (if that is a thing).

Deep dive. Dang it, girl. I think it helps keep the music alive, so thanks for that. I wish that feel good music would make a comeback.

Just play the whole album, without stopping once. it's almost like being there...almost.

It’s not about the video… that came decades later. It’s about the music.

Hi Britt! I'm a new viewer, and I have to say, you "get" Little Feat extremely well. And by that, I mean I agree with you, haha. The soul, the pocket, the richness and brightness of the music just take me away. Those videos were made within the last couple of years by LF fanatics. There are many Easter eggs in them--characters from album covers, etc. If you want to immerse in LF, I strongly suggest you listen to this album first--IMO these live recordings are better than the original album versions. Their records are full or innuendo. "He said hey honey, hey, let me check your oil, alright?" I don't know if you have ever checked oil with a dipstick, but I think you got it anyway. And he's not saying Jonitata the last time, he's singing Chiquita, which means honey or cutie, and a famous banana brand whose spokeswoman was a very sexy banana. "Juanita, my sweet chiquita, what are you up to?" The lead singer and main songwriter--Lowell George--invented that smoky cajun/rock/jazz mix, and yeah, his voice is fantastic. Thanks for having me along. 🙏😊
