My dad grew up on a dairy and they had a plow horse (back in the early 40s). One day when he was about 2, he wandered into the paddock before granny saw him. He went right up under the horse and walked all through her legs. Granny almost had a coronary from fear, but the horse never moved or got spooked. Her name was Doll and she really was one!

I mainly laughed at how much its ears went back and forth. Almost like a helicopter lmao. Its is very energetic, which, if this horse is a stallion or a mare, very typical. Especially with something new. Geldings are usually more calm, but it doesn't mean all of them are that way, so yes, horses have a very expressive body language

When my Godson was about that age (he is now in his 20's) he used to go to work with his parents who both worked at one of the racetracks/racing stables here in Melbourne, Australia. The little guy would spend the day mucking out the stables and come home absolutely filthy black from the dirt and usually fast asleep in the back seat of his parents car. I asked his Mum one day if it was safe for him to be around the race horses because they can be skittish. "Oh it's alright because the horses know that he is little and won't hurt them and besides, they love him because he gives them pats and treats! If you want to help a horse get to know you, put your face near their nose and breathe gently into their nostrils. The area around their nose is as soft as a rose petal, no joke! I love their muzzle! Если бы люди ещё понимали, какие лошади на самом деле эмоциональные в целом. Даже их забота о детях в принципе достаточно близка к тому, как человек будет заботится о малыше. Наши дети также беспомощны и полагаются на защиту окружающих около двух лет своей жизни, после чего начинают более менее становится самостоятельными в определённых делах. Слишком много вижу людей, которые кричат ЖИВОТНОЕ, как оскорбление, будто оно тут же накинется сразу, не понимая, что всё зависит от самого животного, а не от того, как себя поведёт человек. Как оно воспримет поведение человека, нужно задавать именно этот вопрос

When I was a toddler my grandma raised and bred horses. She always told me to stay away from the studs (males who hadn’t been neutered) since they were usually more aggressive. One of them stuck his head out of his stall window and my little ass decided it was a good idea to hug him. My grandma freaked until she realized he seemed completely happy to let me love on him. He was and always will be one of my favorite horses

What an intelligent, sweet and gentle horse! And that little girl’s innocent joy is infectious. I’d still be nervous watching those little fingers sticking out towards the horse. I had horse riding lessons for a brief time when I was little and I was taught to always keep my fingers straight out and tight together when approaching a horse, so they wouldn’t mistakenly chomp my fingers like a carrot.

My dad was always crystal clear that animals were not our toys. I remember he told me about several kids he caught dragging frogs from the local pond across the pavement. I rarely saw my dad that disgusted and I remember how angry I was. So you're right. If kids aren't taught basic empathy they may grow up to be sick.

Some horses just love kids. I had one rescue mare who was very reactive with adults, but with babies? And absolute angel. She'd follow them around with her nose practically on the ground. ❤️ Another gelding would lick their hair until it stuck up like there was gel in it. lol
