Listening to Melissa discuss how the murder of Sandra has impacted HER and how SHE will have to live with this is very telling of the person she is. There might have been a *few* seconds here and there in her statement when you could sense some snippets of honesty make their way out along side all the lies within her statement. But it was mainly when she was addressing her family and own child, such as, she couldn’t even imagine what she would do if anyone ever harmed her child like she did to that sweet little girl… etc etc.. @@annehaight9963 they have to sit there in silence because if they break silence by yelling or lunging at the murderer the court usually calls for a retrial and extends the sentencing process - meaning they have to do it all over again and endure the pain of it all over again. For example, another rising star in YT True Crime has a history of personally reaching out to people involved in the crime, not for further information or investigation, but for comment. In one video, they said "we reached out to the family, but they would not comment and eventually stopped responding, which if you ask me is a little suspicious." Like not wanting to talk to some internet asshole about the death of your kid is wrong, or suspicious. Dreading, That Chapter and Coffeehouse crime are just the relevant information, with either zero or appropriate editorializing (for example "if you ask me, the perpetrator is a douche," and things like that.)

KZbin just wants to appease overly cautious advertisers and push "safe", "mainstream" media above all else. A lot of these policies are implemented incoherently, via algorithm or whatever. Some people like to think they have some sinister "agenda", stopping what they see as "the truth about vaccines" or some other such malarkey, but then you see things like Rachael Oates having a video removed for "medical misinformation"; the video in question was specifically intended to DEBUNK medical misinformation, and anyone that had taken the time to actually review it would've understood that. In other words, almost anything that's not from a yuge media conglomerate, which might be "controversial" or trips up some algorithm, is at risk of demonetization or even removal in some cases.

Protip: "Awareness" is a bs term. This case did not teach anyone anything they didn't already know. A good chunk of true crime is just sensationalist and gruesome. The countless true crime channels that try to skirt age restriction is very gross. Additionally if you didn't create or transform the intellectual property of someone else you don't deserve the income the video produces under law. I'm the first to point at skeezy corporations but in this instance KZbin is in the right. It's just 80% of the people on KZbin are under 18 so many creators correlate age restriction with being demonetized which is not how it works. If you make good and compassionate true crime like dread here - those of us who want that content can and do find it.

In this case it makes sense why she did because they would have found the suitcase and traced it back to her. When taken without prescription it makes you very sleepy, loopy, slow, and often later unaware or forgetful of anything that happened while under the influence. I'm just going to put in that I was (temporarily) locked up when I was younger, in a local, known place in NYC when I was younger (vehicular shit, I don't kill, assault, sell drugs, rob or r@pe) and I was in the regular women's dorm. I watched them discover that one of the detainees was there bc she had almost beat her five year old daughter to death. The PO's just got her out in time. A group of nearly 20 females were watching her in the dorm at that moment wherever she went & someone had already "befriended" her to find she had no weapons and were only waiting to see if she were dumb enough to try and use the toilet before lights out. Some of the women there were only in waiting until they were placed upstate for a number of years, and a lot of them had kids. She got put in a dorm further away so it took about a day for that group to descend on her that night. And she wasn't on the news like this lady. Believe me, she will never be safe.

It’s always questionable to me how much of the SA is motivated by actual predatory desire and how much is motivated by a very particular type of same-gender based jealousy. Sometimes I think the female that perpetrates SA on a female child is actually “punishing” the child for being what they view as too flirtatious, attractive, etc. Like it is perhaps rooted in a deep seated twisted form of jealousy. It makes me think of the case of Elisa Izquierdo, one of the worst and saddest cases of parental filicide I’ve ever read. Her mother was partially motivated to assault her own child in that way because she thought she was essentially stealing her limelight and attention from the father. I’ve also always wondered if that’s what happened in the JonBenet Ramsay case. This woman may have been a neighbor and not her mother, but I believe her reasoning for the SA may have been similar.

SA is perpetrated by victims of SA +/o physical abuse more often than not. It's less about jealousy and more control in the type of situation they had none in themselves. I'd heard about the channels that combine mukbangs with true crime but not the makeup ones. I couldn't wrap my head around it. "So then the killer put his victims in a wood chipper and spread the remains over his corn field. OMG, you guys, these chicken tenders are the best ever!" I mean...what? Makeup and true crime doesn't make any more sense. "And after Leatherface took a chainsaw to his victims, he buried their bodies behind the house. You guys, this blush will totally give you that high cheekbone look. I'm using Snowy Berry."

I can't believe she hopes to receive forgiveness some day when she's still lying about what she did. If they didn't have the evidence that she researched it in advance, I might find it plausible that she had some momentary break and doesn't remember. But the fact that she planned it in advance -- there's no understanding that. And you can't ask for forgiveness before you've even admitted what you did. The gall it took to pretend that she "doesn't have an answer" as to how Sandra happened to be violated with a rolling pin during the time that she was the only one with her -- with that level of gall, I do not believe she is haunted by what she did. But she ought to be.

Good point. I was trying to find an answer to "how could she?" and I was thinking maybe the combo of Adderall and benzos made her hallucinate or completely lose reality but you're right, this was no momentary lose of reason, drug induced hallucination or mental health break. She is a predator playing on the sympathies of anyone who will listen. Thank God she is where she should be, separated from society, so she can't hurt anyone else. Sandra very well could have been the first of many if she wasn't more worried about getting attention than getting away with it

Just wow! This really shows the depth and danger attention seeking behavior and Munchausen's syndrome could possibly lead to with escalation of the lies to serve that need for attention. At what point do we analyze the type of attention someone seeks and the depth they are willing to go to get that attention? The focus on this topic and the way you tell it is second to none! Working in healthcare and behavioral health these types of "attention seeking behaviors" are often times reduced to just, attention. Often ignoring the level of attention behaviors danger level. We are certainly moving towards rating scales of danger in attention seeking behaviors to pay more attention to this but I MUST say your video will be shown in my next meeting to staff on what danger can look like in attention seeking behaviors and what to look for in patients and what that pattern looks like. Thank you so much for your knowledgeable insight and keen attention to detail. You have a GIFT to pin pointing exactly what the people have studied for years and haven't figured out.

Unless you can come up w/a better system, it's the only systems there is. At least in the US, defendants are given the option of having their cases heard by a jury of their peers or by a judge. mental health is such a weapon against humanity sometimes... and it's sad that people rather label eachother than to just actually investigate or invest in mental health. that little baby didn't have to go through such thing if the woman was to be treated for her issues. As someone who suffers several mental health disorders it pains me so much that even though some of us might have limbs, ability to move, or freedom, our minds can limit us to staying in one locked hell. I remember distinctly when this happened. I'm an EMT now but back then I was a teacher working with children. My coworkers and I had a really hard time with this one. We felt she should be given the death penalty personally. It was just difficult to see someone who was totally unassuming to do something so unspeakable and evil. It wasn't long before the Casey Anthony case and trial who got off scot-free and shouldn't have! Like I said my coworkers and I just had a really hard time with this and we tried to support each other during this time. I don't entirely understand and find it incredibly bizarre how she kept inserting herself into this investigation. I mean she could have gotten away with it, not that I wanted her to. The FBI profile was way off initially. I don't buy her statement for one second! Thank you for all you do on your channel! ❤️
