Katie's dad: "I thought she was just gonna train, and eat, and go to school. No one said anything about an expensive choreographer" Coach Radkin in part 2 at the 2:55 timestamp: "Money. I'm afraid we don't come cheap. Living expenses and basics, $30,000 a year. Tutors, choreographers are extra. Anyway, its the way we do things here."

oh my word I loved this movie when it came out. Had it on VHS and watched it all the time. Love the Gliders girls as doubles [and Aimee, the deaf girl]. And Swoozie Kurtz lol what a legend. And the guy who plays the coach was also the evil gym coach on an SVU episode [but he was Hungarian lol]

The girl who is deaf in this movie was an actual gymnast in real life.

I have never understood how athletes think that they can push their bodies to the absolute limit on little or no food! That's like trying to drive a car cross country on one tank of gas! Food is fuel for the body. I am glad to see that things are changing for the better, though.

I had mixed feelings on the part where Katie saw her old coach. I don't think Katie was trying to imply that Terry was holding her back. And I think it was okay for Katie to tell her how she was doing. However, I do think Katie could said it differently, and maybe even made some time to spend with Terry. I do think the Dad was a little to hard on Katie about it though.

@flipingymnastkristy You are totally right. If my kid tells me that, I would do exactly the same: so you cannot it because of gymnastics? Then no more gymnastics for you, girl. Period. Gymnastics (or anything) cannot go before your health. And you NEED to eat to keep going, because food is the fuel we need to function. You do not have to eat all, you can skip some carbs and eat more green salads and proteins, but you HAVE to eat. If you want to loose weight you go to a nutritionist.

Wait, they get a break for Christmas, I get the 24th and 25th off, and I'm a level 9. Season is during the winter and spring, so December is crunch time, they should not have the time off if they're elite gymnasts.

It only helps if you don't compromise your strength in the process of losing extra pounds, otherwise losing more is useless for tumbling and pretty dangerous.

@liza92685 and what's your point? Nadia was incredibly successful & has made a life for herself within gymnastics even after retirement , and she needs an image to maintain. Go see what Emilia Eberle has to say about him, and then the rest of that quad. The fact is that Romania is still asking for Karolyi to be sent back for abuse but the US is too happy with him producing gold medallists. Sick. If you're too lazy to google, just type in worldgymrank IOC

@JESSsuckItTV Well, I have Meniere's disease, so I happen to know that there are TWO nerves in the inner ear and that the inner ear has TWO jobs. If I decided to opt for the surgery where they sever the balance nerve (and my good ear would eventually take over the function of both ears), the drawback would be possible damage to the hearing nerve, a risk I'm not willing to take at this point. Her hearing nerve is affected, not the balance one...and she is a real life gymnast.

@flipingymnastkristy haha, yeah. I'm not even in gymnastics and if I told my mum I did that she'd freak out! It's hard to watch your weight and be a competitive athelete!

He sold everything he owned to support her training? That is so stupid. How can an intelligent father give up everything they have and live in a car? It's a NECESSITY to have a safe place to relax and groom yourself and it's a WANT for his daughter to do well in gymnastics. Ridiculous.

Its not worth her training if she is order not to eat. No food means no energy means no strength. Athletes have passed out cause people treat them like machines. Athletes have had permanent damage causing them never again able to do the sport again. Pain killers gets rid of pain but not the source. Those without food are known to pass out in dangerous situations position. Mid air on beans or bars for example. Athletes are forced to choose either risk permanent damage or rest and return with full strength. Soccer gymnastics figure skating dancing etc.

85 pounds! she is small ayway the weight is fine! what concerns me is that she thinks about throwing up! I mean i had similar thoughts when i started high jump! You had to find the balance of having strong leg muscels/stomach muscels and keeping your weight downnto a minimum! I mean you have big pressure on your shoulders!

This movie is certainly not as good as Perfect body! There are no build up scenes to her getting insulted by the coach regarding her figure for her to even be worried about her diet that much. In my opinion there was more in depth to Perfect body than this one.
