Good job taking this tune and making it your own. This is one of my favorites of all time. I will soon be posting an intrumental version on my channel page. HAve you ever listened to Memphis Minnie?? I think you'd find a lot of great material if you haven't already. IMO, she was the best of the female country blues singers and players.

Hey! It's an Alvarez Regent Series RD8C Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Cutaway. It had a pretty high action, but it always sounds great and plays well for a relatively cheap guitar.

This is fantastic! You play the guitar part very cleanly, and you sing this just beautifully.

I apologize for not saluting you years ago. Not sure where I even heard the original, but after KZbin played the original, your version popped-up. The fact a young white woman even appreciates this kind of music and, on top of that, plays a version that is every bit as good as the original gives me hope for the world. Bless you, young lady, and thanks.

Discovered this song some time before the internet, loved it, played it - and now it's all over the net. Felt like when some hipster's band got popular and now all depressed. Funny how that works. You do justice to the song. Very nice.

Oh stop that! This seems to be a rare tune where almost all of us just stick really close to the original arrangement with very little variation. Even a lot of the pros! daddystovepipe is one of the first I've seen who adds his own touch to it.

Yes, she hasn’t posted anything on KZbin in years. That someone so gifted in every respect was unable to have a successful career in music is appalling. Her cover of “Last Kind Words” is hard to believe, vocal- and guitar-wise,

Excellent as always! But dude, for real... This is another song I've been fixin' to post a vid of an' you beat me to it! Me an' my harmonica playin' buddy have been playin' this together for a year now. Great tune! I guess there's bound to be some overlap from one fingerpicker's repertoire to the next... The visual delay is weird, but... Whatever... It's all about the music and it sounds good, so...

Thx for the info, I was thinking about getting one. However, I came upon a nice deal for a 1994 Martin D-1 for $300 and couldnt pass it up. I really like your Bob Dylan cover to me it is more soulful than the original. Anyways, keep up the good work.

You know the guitar notes perfectly. "But she couldn't understand" has some feeling to it, but the rest needs more feeling -- introspection, I think . . ...

I love the way you pick this--nothing too fancy, but way beyond elementary! One quibble: I believe the original artist's name was Little Hat Joe, not Little Hat Jones. I heard Daddy Squeeze sing this at a house concert last week. In his spoken intro, he told how LHJ had recorded only two songs, this being one, and the other has been totally lost. Lyrics to this are hard to find!!
@hesyrett13 жыл бұрын
Okay, I stick by the compliment in my post 10 minutes ago, but retract the stuff about the song's origins. Daddy Squeeze was clearly misinformed. A bit more KZbin surfing turned up a bunch of info on Little Hat Jones, including that he recorded 10 tunes for Okeh in the late 1920s. Keep on keepin' the blues alive!

This is awesome. I wanted to know how to play this song for so long. I don't even know if it's little hat joe or little hat jones. It's so hard to find info on this song or the singer. Is there anyway you could provide to me some text explanation on how to play it? I'm semi experienced and love finger picking (and old folk obviously)
