As a veteran of Hollow Knight, as well as someone who has thought of these two in the White Palace, this is just adorable and so well done. Absolutely amazing!

While this is adorable and the animation is amazingly done (props to the creator), the Hollow knight and Hornet, to my knowledge, were never close. I don't believe hornet ever lived in the white palace, instead living with her mother in deepnest. It is my understanding that the lore played out (in general) as: Hollow knight is created from void and ascends from the abyss. The pale king retrieves the hollow knight and takes him away The pale king gathers the guardians, one of which is herra the beast who demands that as payment for becoming a guardian, the pale king would create a child for her (Hornet) Hornet is born, the pale king uses the hollow knight to contain the infection, and then the guardians are used to seal the black egg. Some time later, the hollow knight game begins with 'the knight' (player character) It is my understanding that during the timeline, the hollow knight and hornet interact little or not at all.

@@cmrtnll6568 there’s a lot of uncertainty about this. Remember that the vessels were born of the pale king and the white ladies black egg in the abyss and filled with void. We don’t know the incubation period for it, or if the vessels were born as small as the knight and siblings or had to grow there. We also don’t know how long it took to select the hollow knight from the thousands of vessels after they were born. Additionally, we can assume that hornet ages “normally” for a bug, ignoring any Wyrm magic nonsense from the pale king, but the HK may age differently as he was groomed to grow in size considerably. It is possible that HK hatched and was selected at a younger age than hornet, but surpassed her in size and age because of the pale kings magic.

Hornets reaction could be explained as her expecting the hollownight to be aggressive because they don't know the radiance died and the hollownights seemingly aggressive stance (you know thrusting the nail forwards and into the ground and stuff like that) could be explained as a result of complications with movement due to the infection ravaging his body and destroying his arm and (this part is from a fanfic and unconfirmed but i think it would be weirder is it wasn't the case) completely ruining his internal systems and making him barely capable of moving on his own, and he is using the nail as a cane.

Part of me wants to doubt THK would be this expressive, but honestly I get the feeling you can still behave this way while being considered "Hollow" by the Pale King. The White Lady's confidence in our Knight's Hollowness never wavers despite what we do, or even showing a form of kindness by attempting to bring her the delicate flower (she doesn't accept it, you just get extra dialogue), or returning to visit her without reason. Honestly it makes me flip between thinking Team Cherry uses the term "Hollow" too flexibly, or believing there really is something profound going on with what it means to be hollow in this story. EDIT: Yes I'm aware of the memory that 'tainted' THK, but as personal as it was, it was also incredibly subtle from an outside perspective. The Pale King probably thought nothing of it, and that's assuming the memory was a literal event and not just representative of THK's love for its father.
