I remembered the lyrics from childhood & sang them to all of my grandkids & sometimes I'd substitute their name in place of Lulu's name. They'd say, "Sing the Lulu song! Sing the Lulu song." They loved it. I have no idea why or how I remembered those lyrics all these years! Came to You Tube so I could check to see if I'd remembered them correctly & I did!

Wild to my understanding is someone that is undisciplined, uncivilised, uneducated and even uncultured. So to my understanding little kids were being taught that we are all those things. Which frankly we are none of those things and i do not understand how this theme song was left to continue playing. Given that it continued it seems to me as if this theme song was used as propaganda to give children the general idea that zulus are uneducated individuals. I frankly would not be surprised if it was a trick to skewer white supremacy as we are black south africans and well many black people are said to be descendants of Africa.

Very much so, though I didn't realize it until I was older & READ the lyrics. I thought they were saying "though you're wild as any Zoo-lu" as in a zoo with wild animals that are kept in cages because they can't be tamed. But that was my innocent child mind. When the new Little Lulu show came out in the 90s, the lyrics were changed to "Though you're wild, you know it's true-Lu & you're very hard to tame". I think that's a good change while keeping the tempo of the song & the nostalgia.
