No one ever brings up the darkest aspect of the movie: the big monsters go out, find kids, and trick them into coming down into their world, where they are then trapped forever and mutated into some sort of freakshow monster. Watch the baseball scene, which you somehow forgot to show. It's all little kids in costumes. They're all missing children, trapped in a dark netherworld, forced to scare and kidnap other kids for the evil monster boss. They even had a party set up for Brian when he finally turned. Maurice isn't a hero, he was working with the bad guy for the whole movie, almost got five kids trapped in a nightmarish hell, and finally had a crisis of conscience at the end of it all.
@soulance83424 жыл бұрын
I'm fully convinced this movie is about pedophiles. Abducting kids by luring them in with "fun" and "no rules" while they slowly groom them only to be taken advantage of. The monsters one weakness, light or exposure. Before these kids realize what's going on they have become monsters themselves.

@fendelphi7 жыл бұрын
Actually, there was a point in JW. The kids were sent to the aunt, because the parents were busy getting the papers in order. They would not have been there at all, if the parents were not getting a divorce. It also presents a reason why they should "stick" together, in spite of the age difference. The big brother is at the age where they typical want to be independence, but he is "forced" to take care of his little brother. He is reluctant about it, but also understand that it is a hard time for his little brother. (as most big brothers at that age would rather just walk around alone, than spending time with their little brother). In other words, the subplot assist in telling why they are on the island, and their relation and interaction with each other. In Little Monsters, I guess there is a point with the brothers having to "stick together", since they wont be able to rely on their parents. It is just shown in a really mumbled way, and we already had an incentive for the big brother to look after the little brother(as the big brother is the one responsible for monsterworld/humanworld interaction).
@fendelphi7 жыл бұрын
But what kind of parent would send their kids alone, unless there was a "good" reason for it? And if they simply won tickets, the older brother would not have an incentive to stick around his younger "less cool"(snort) younger brother. I mean, a young man in his late teens, on an island without his parents, would not be "hanging" with his much younger little brother, unless there was a reason(in this case, comfort him during the divorce).

Here's something theyncouldve added to make the film a little more interesting. Maybe Maurice was another kid who came to the world of monsters, and was turned into one. Wouldn't this be kind of sad, and intriguing?

His reviews were a lot funnier when he wasn’t playing dress up and recreating the stupid scenes as he was telling us how they were stupid. If they’re stupid scenes why make us watch your version of them?

Ya know....... 7:43 I'd say left is the wrong and right is the correct way XD Seriously, at least Betelgeuse (Apparently the way to spell it) and Genie actually had funny stuff to say. Drop Dead Fred and Little Monsters were just goddamn fast talking for the sake of fast talking.

Yes. Devin Ratray. He was 12 when Little Monsters was filmed in Mid 1988.

He also reprised his role as Buzz in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and played one of the babysitters in Dennis the Menace from 1993.

Anyway Fred is a very good actor, even in here he is natural and funny to watch, actually vibrant and emotionally involved and shows it.

Little Monsters: Because everyone's a bit of an asshole :P In all seriousness though, this is yet another great example of a kid's movie that could be re-worked into a horror movie: A monster shows up and befriends a child who is alienated and miserable due to his parents moving to another town and get divorced, maybe the move was even part of the plan to divorce in the first place for some reason. The parents, especially the father, become more frustrated because of their failed marriage and start taking it out on their kids, the elder brother specifically. The boy is taken in to the monster world and everyone there welcomes him with open arms and everything seems great as now he has a place to escape to when he needs to escape from his increasingly horrific home life. He begins to turn into a monster and discovers that the monsters he thought were his friends begin to show their cruelty and in fact were originally humans at one time, too.

man i remember watching this as a kid on disney but its amazing how many horrible things that can be overlooked that really makes that person uncomfortable when seeing it as a adult but really nothing gave me nightmares now the scene were the birds take their heads off from labyrinth will probably mentally scar most kids and maybe half the adults as well
