Ronnie Wood truly understands the role of a lead guitarist. It’s not to make yourself look cool, it’s about adding, not detracting from the song.

Once I had a Tele squire, a tuner sprung and wouldn’t hold tuning so I got some mini grover tuners installed. I was I kidding around with the tech about having a humbucker installed in the neck position. He said he had an old PAF humbucker that needed a home , I said ok, so he put the PAF in. It didn’t have the power so I just turned up the amp. It sounded good then. I wish I still had that guitar.

Just a note about Fender guitars around the middle/ late seventies. I bought a sunburst, rosewood fretboard Strat at a shop. It had to be ordered and when it arrived it was horrible to play. The store owner sent it back to the distributor as unplayable and it's replacement was , let's say alright. I sold it after a short time. Now , many years later I have a Vintage ( Wilkinson) Strat. 😊

My first guitar was a cheap Squire. I was 15. Over the years I’ve bought two top end Squires. Both are very playable. Of course I own Fenders, Gibson and a Les Paul. Nostalgia, however, always returns me to my Squires. Ronnie can make the absolutely worst guitar sound angelic.

Excellent!! After me messing about with a guitar on and off for 30 years i can say I can actually play abit. Plus i could hardly hear much skill here with Ronnie. I saw Stones Urban Jungle show at Hampden Football Park in 89 i believe. Fantastic show!! Big infatable Honky Tonk Wonan and big barking dog inflatables on stage and bursting out from where i just thought the amps were. So this was a different Ronnie Wood. I was being sarcastic when i said i can play the guitar "better" just the Glaswegian in me. Cheers. Even though i didn't actually say i was "better" though folk will read too much into things..There you go infact. Something to read. Have a nice day.
