For sure. Years ago I saw an interview with Evel Knievel and he stated that Liberace was a big influence for him. The more I thought about it, the flashy jewels, costumes, cape, showmanship made me realize that Evel Knievel was basically Liberace with a motorcycle.

In 1970 I worked at the Whisky ago go and Little Richard had a 10 day engagement there. Every night the house was packed. He was kind and gracious, said hello to everyone when he came in through the front door to everybody. Not to mention, the shows were great and he was always dressed in some mirrored outfit.

LOL, I moved to LA in 1990 and happened to be on the corner of Hollywood and Highland with my dad when the light changed and a white limo stopped. I found myself staring at the tinted rear side window wondering what hotshot was inside when the window suddenly went down and this basketball sized, black head looked straight at me and screamed 'WOOOOOOOOOOOO", and it was Richard!!!! My dad screamed "Jesus Christ, it's LITTLE RICHARD!!!!", everyone turned and cheered and he waved, and then as quick as that, the window went up, the light changed and it was over. My dad and I will never forget that and still laugh about it today...!

My mother received tickets to a Liberace concert in Merrillville, Indiana. Now, we lived in Gary, Indiana at the time. She took me and a girl I was dating. I was 17, she was 16. In case you don't know it, we're black folk. This was one of the most memorable concert experiences I've ever had. My girlfriend thought so too. He really was "Mr. Showmanship."

My late husband and myself had the pleasure of actually talking to Little Richard, at a dinner show, we attended and he sit with us, and he told us how he got his gene's and looks from his beaufical Mother. Both of these men had God given talents, but it took a lot of hard work to become the entertainers they were destined to become. Liberace played to nothing but sold out nights at the Las Vegas Hilton, and I can still feel the excitement. He improved every room. I regret greatly never having had the experience of seeing Little Richard. He reeked of talent, and self confidence. Above all else, Little Richard gave the glory to God. People have been known to complain over misplaced car keys, but to fight his way out of poverty(and take his family with him), without complaint, and then fight his way to the top is astonishing to me. I'll shut up now.

@Terry S. Little Richard was one of a kind. He lived in Watts, California, where I was raised. He was a devout Seventh Day Adventist"'...and always gave God the Glory, in all things. He was an ordained minister, and for a while, he preached at a ""Tent Revival Service""....in Los Angeles, on Crenshaw Bl. and Adams Blvd. Whenever Richard would come to L.A., he'd call, and my friend Peter, and I, would meet him at a restaurant in Hollywood. Richard was so silly at times, he'd always leave us laughing. Richard preached well, but he couldn't make a living singing ""Old Rugged Cross"".. he had to go back to the studio, record another hit, but it was always, God that he spoke of. Richard had a son, not sure what happened to him. He was simply, ""A Loving Man, who always shared, and showed, his love for God. At the rate this world is going, we might see Richard, kinda sorta soon!!!!

And Mike Douglas was so unique as a host, because he was always focused on the other person, not on trying to be a smart aleck for a cheap laugh, and he always tried to ask really kind and meaningful questions but without sounding hokey or like he was trying to exploit some emotion out of somebody. You got the feeling he cared about the person he was interviewing, and that was especially meaningful back in the day with the thoughtful and respectful way that he treated all the black guests that he had on his show. As a child shows like this made me think things out there were better than they really were between the races. Merv Griffin did an interview with Martin Luther King that just makes me want to cry now, to see Dr. King speak so eloquently even without a pulpit.
