I think this was probably LRB's pinnacle. Very well produced album loaded with great tunes from energetic complex songs to slow and melodic ones. I just instinctively knew at the time (1984, when I was 20 years old) that this would be an album worth purchasing.

This album was such a high point. Farnham and Gobles really pushing the talent envelope with Hirschfelder and co. Wonderful work. Pity the marketing in the USA sucked so badly.

Too bad they (or management) got cold feet about how hard-rocking this song was and put-out an awful video made of the worst 80's cheese, for which this 4:25 song was chopped all the way down to 2:57 and had its guitar part replaced by synthesizers, and in which you could never properly see the band. Nobody wanted this shit single, and this album therefore flopped in the U.S.

This is as killer as anything out at the same time. But they thought this was to Hard Rock to put out, so they cut it up, shortened it, and changed guitar parts to keyboards. Just listen to the vocals...saw them live and they nailed it there too!

Gee, do you think this song was aimed at the American market? The cheesy keyboards are un-Australian. LRB did produce a video with the Band 'playing' - it should be on You Tube. Farnham looked bloody awesome in the video, great hair in the 80's. John felt creatively smothered and Goble's felt like a Backing Band for John. It was a short relationship. Luckily, Glenn Wheatley mortgaged his house to finance "Whispering Jack'
