You'd have to be cold-hearted to not feel pretty great for her. She's worked her ass off to get to this moment. It's rare for awards shows to get it right, so shout out the Mercury Prize for doing so pretty consistently.

Raw talent honest to the point and I love how she dawns the long skirt instead of the typical rapper look. That's a woman very in control not concerned about social image or norms. I only discovered her today and NO I'm not embarrassed about that fact. As the lady said herself TIMING IS EVERYTHING. anyway! went straight online and bought all albums IMMEDIATELY! and yeah I'm older gen so NWA! NO WAIT LETS REPHRASE THAT, SINCE THE WH SMITH GIFT SECTION! That was the last time I had interest in rap. So for this young woman to change even my age group is saying something! Shes astounding! I'd go as far to say her flow on numerous occasions surpasses even the top American rappers. the music is so simple in sound, and yet genius and thats the point she kept it simple with extremely clever and exquisite annunciation and messaging. There's something about British rapper that just seems to have it. No frills no pretention! Truly a deserved award 👏 🙌 💜 👌

Should’ve won Grammys, or even BRITs, one of the greatest albums of the last ten years all genres and was easily the best rap album last year, she didn’t get any respect because she is English and a female rapper that isn’t just a stripper with ghost written songs but fuck the Grammys, UK rap music is going to take over soon because the new American rappers are shit 😂

I am not a fan of the Mercury Prize as it has always been one of those awards ceremony's which as it’s decided by people in the music industry, I basically ignore it. I do concede that we need an award that doesn’t represent necessarily the populist vote but the individual’s artistic talent. I guessed Little Simz would win and knew Sam Fender wouldn't as he doesn't fit the panels criteria. I am not a Sam Fender fan btw as I would rather listen to a Springsteen record but I can see why he's so popular. It was still good to have Little Simz win and not someone from a privileged background. I wouldn't of minded who had won tbh but thank F**k Wet Leg didn't😁

Yet another bent result.I was told Little Simz was gonna win , from a source in the music industry over a month ago.Scrap this system , or I will keep taking more money from the Bookies.

I do like a couple of her tunes but I wouldn’t call her music groundbreaking - the Mercury prize used to have a bit of a rep for pushing new stuff, I remember Roni Size winning it. In all honesty most of the stuff I’ve heard from Simz is reminiscent of UK rap from twenty years ago, heavily influenced by 90s American hiphop. She reminds me of Est’elle before American Boy, plus a few female acts out of Nottingham/Out Da Ville.
@no-nr6de2 жыл бұрын
Her album is groundbreaking for sure imo!

@@no-nr6de I think it’s been done by US artists tenfold over the last 30 years tbh. It’s a well produced album, don’t get be wrong - I’m not saying it’s bad at all but it isn’t particularly original.
