What I love about British HipHop is, like the blues in the early 60s, it’s heart is American, but great British artists took it, adapted it and made it quintessentially a British sound. Like the Stones and Led Zeppelin did with the blues. It’s not a straight rip-off copy, it’s a complete metamorphosis into a new British form, but still showing great respect to it’s American roots. Like The Beatles did with rock n’ roll. After all, the USA & the UK are STILL the finest originators of great music … admittedly with the odd exception.

It’s roots are wary more diverse than that. You mention Led Zep over the West Indiies Sound system culture, which is all over London( though being destroyed by gentrification) So yeah, much mitre influence from the West Indies & Africa than 70’s English prog rock!😂🤣🤣😜

@@donnalawson6236 if you read my post again, I’m only comparing the way British rap artistes made the art form their own, in the same way as Led Zep, The Stones, et al, did with American blues back in the 60s. That’s all I’m doing. It’s not about the wider influences of any artistes and certainly not about the the roots of any genre.
