Your amazing technique and versatility doesn't stop you from staying true to the emotion captured in the original song. It's never "look what I'm able to pull off", always "here's my humble service to the spirituality of music".

Your precious gifts you give to us out here in this World,I just have to Thank you for the pure enjoyment of how you capture a song, make it your own and delight us with smiles and Joy. Thank you! ..Yes a Whammy on a Mandolin would be an extra fun treat . lol. That is one of my favorite pieces by Mr Hendrix. And he's truly smiling down saying Bravo as well as myself . I won't ask for a specific song for you to do ,since you amaze me with all You come up with. But While the Mandolin is still warm ,two came to mind . Rod Stewart's "Mandolin Wind" and a Zeppelin song of "The Battle of Evermore" With you're dear friend singing the latter in a duet. I think you would do these songs in your own unique way. Whether you put them on youtube or enjoy them amoungst yourselves, whenever you get together. I'm sure would be wonderful for you guys to do just as of pure love of hearing you do as song. You are a Master. enjoy your videos Josh. Everyone who plays the Mandolin is blessed as it is the greatest little musical instrument that was ever invented. I bought my first mandolin when I was in my late fifties. I had never played it before and when I got it into my hands, suddenly I discovered I was playing like I was born with it in my genes. I am now eighty one and still learning and playing and finding that the Mandolin has no limits. What a great experience it is for me and I thrill to hear people young and mature enjoying its difference voices. Thanks for sharing. Marie Mandolin. Do visit me and share.

Good for you.... I checked out the date I bought the mandolin and found I was actually in my sixties when I bought the instrument. I went to a music store for a mike and they were having a sale. The clerk talked me into buying the Mandolin . I had never played it in my life and in fact, I did not like the sound of it even when I heard it played. But bought the instrument seeing as it was on sale and brought it home. However on the way home I was not to happy with myself for buying it and thought I would sell it. But when I tried it a week later I just played it. Surprised me completely. LOL. Have been enjoying it since. Glad you are taking it up. Just relax and enjoy and you will find it coming easy. I have lessons on my channel that might help you. Happy playing and as you say Rock On. Marie

***** Wow! ...Amazing story....And I felt bad because I took off a lot of years and started "back" playing the guitar at 55 yrs old...Hats off to you !! My dad is 84...He used to play guitar all the time....I try constantly to get him playing again...He refuses....I just feel like it would add so much happiness to his life....He seems so depressed....Really frustrating .....I also picked up the mandolin around 10 years ago...but eventually decided I needed to concentrate on one instrument so I dropped the mandolin and went back to guitar.....I don't know...Maybe I should have dropped the guitar and stayed with the mandolin instead....someone told me just the other day "good guitar pickers are a dime a dozen and good mandolin players are rare"......Oh well.....It wouldn't be the first mistake I've made in my life....And hopefully it wont be the last....lol.....Again, thank you Marie for sharing your story ! ....You are an inspiration !!!
