Hi “old man that likes talking about avocados”! Hope you are well. Thank you for sharing! I see you have quite a bit of trees! Swoon 🥰! I have a question if you don’t mind. I have a lil’ cado (Wurtz) tree. This is the first crop and it held on to seven pieces of fruit. Is that normal? And... I wish I could share an image of them as I’m not sure if they are ready to be picked. What I do know is that they have been on the tree since about Feb. and that’s why I am concerned. Three are almost the size of my hand, minus an inch and a half. They (about three) don’t seem to be growing any more. If you could give me your opinion, I’d be very thankful. The old lady from FL that loves to grow food. 😊

Hi...lm planning to get a little cado, but planting it in a 40gal trash bin. Do you think it will grow fruit in there?

It should fruit. Best to have another avocado tree so it can have better pollination. What area are you in? I am going to grow a wurtz, lamb hass and Pinkerton in big tubs too. I have seen people grow them in tubs and yes they do fruit in taken care of properly.

How old is your tree? I have a Wurtz tree about 15 years old. But my Avocados are about double that size.

This tree is about the same age but it is grown in very poor soil and the abusive owner has never fertilized it and gives it very little water. If he took care of it the way that he tells everyone else to take care of their trees, the fruit would be much larger.

depends on exactly where. They vary due to availability of heat hours.

How long will they hang on the tree? And how much bigger will the fruit get

They will become about 30% larger than an average Hass and hang on the tree ripe and ready to eat from May until maybe as late as November. A very long hold period.
