Hello Phoebe…with regard to your troubles with men in India, I know how it goes. I’m much older than you and have travelled most of my life…far more years than you’ve been alive, long blond hair and similar enough to you, often travel alone. So if I can offer a suggestion…have you tried to make yourself look uglier? 😂 By your videos, it looks like you are baring your shoulders…most men in India and many other cultures will be curious and stare, disrespectful men will see this as an invitation, even if you don’t see it that way. Is what it is. I’ve observed many other women bloggers who will cover up way more than you do. I do too. Do we still get asked for photos? Yes but we are feeling less harassed and exhausted by it because we’re covering up more. It’s a simple thing. We can still look stylish and beautiful and have more respectful encounters. I get you. I do. This is an issue for western women but there are things we can do so we must do it to thwart attentions, thus minimizing the stress. This is not rocket science. ❤
@Overloaded8773 ай бұрын
Hi@@laurie5844 the thing is no one has to cover up to feel safe. There are many indian women who dress modern, it's becoming a new normal,it can never be normal to dress for women the way they want if women start dressing as per men and men who think that they can get away by harassing others are only the one who harass, they justify their action by blaming their victim. It's so sad to see you do the same, i am a man from india,as far as i know about my culture it doesn't including harassing women,for choosing the way they want to dress and stares are common even for me. It's totally normal to get a stare. But it's not normal to harass.
@laurie58443 ай бұрын
@@Overloaded877 thank you for your reply and perspective. It’s valuable. I look forward to seeing how India has changed, as you convey. As a woman who has traveled all over the world and mostly alone, I can relay that it’s just easier to cover up when out walking in the city, when in a country that is not quite ‘there’ yet, as far as being fully modern. It’s coming, sounds like. Last time I was in India was in 2007 and am coming again this year. I will dress beautifully covered when I’m walking around cities and traditional towns. If nothing else, I will feel more secure because of this choice. It’s just a good practice for Western looking women who already stand out a lot as being different. I wish everyone had your evolved attitude…but they don’t. As well, I just feel it’s respectful to the local culture and I want to have the best possible experiences and connections with the local people. I just know it’s an obvious choice and an easy one to make, for me.

This is why whenever i see all these male travel KZbinrs say that anyone could travel here and there and I see them do things and go places that I would think twice about, I know we are not the same. Traveling as a woman is so different but they try to make it seem like all these places are just so safe even though we as women instinctively know that we probably would have to be more vigilant. Place of Dalai Lama, Kashmir, Chandigarh and Amritsar. South: Goa, Mangalore, Bangalore, Kerela, Auroville. Small tips: try out some food tours of cities that will also help you. So good to see you enjoying a city in India, I do know what you are saying about Agra and Jaipur even when I travelled there 15years ago you could see how much they capitalised on tourists and found things were expensive and pushed on yo, Although I loved the halal mahal in Jaipur it was about the coloured and architecture. I am grateful I went to taj however the Golden temple was my fav of all the places and I truely believe it’s because of the feeling as it is still active and people were genuine there not just there to visit as tourists. Still asked for photos I too am blond with blue eyes but much less in Amritsar as they seemed to be more interested in their personal pilgrimage or experience.

Loved the video & filmmaking, Phoebe. As an Indian, I myself don't fancy Golden triangle route myself. But I can understand why people from outside would want to travel there since that's the classic India you have seen & heard of. I think the best way to travel is if you have a friend or know someone in that part plan the travel for with recommended hotels & modes of transport. Unfortunately, Delhi is just the scam capital of the country, 1000 Rs. for that plate of food was definitely one. I would always suggest avoid travelling to big Indian cities, they are just not made for travel. Instead, you can travel to many small towns like Udaipur. If you are in Rajasthan now, I can recommend Jaisalmer for sure, I think you will like it. But it will be HOT. If you have more time, Himalayas would be a good option in this weather. All the best for your travels, hope your experience in India improves going forward.

That boat ride sure did meet your expectations, it’s the perfect scenery. I use Airalo as well, highly recommend it! I feel sorry for the misbehaving people who can’t just let a girl enjoy her trip without being sexually harassed. Terrible behaviour. Good that you got it out of your chest. I hope it doesn’t affect the way you look at a certain country or place, because somehow you will connect a place to the people. That’s why I hate Egypt, because of the people’s behavior. Hope you’ll get your comfort back soon and have an amazing week ahead 🤙

I understand there's lot of problem with out India , specially big crowded cities. And golden triangle should be least recommended thing in India except that Tajmahal. Otherwise I can assure you there's lot of beautiful place in India such as Goa , Hampi , Kerala , Ladakh , Pushkar ( rajasthan ).........

Come visit Kolkata (City of Joy) & in fact the whole West Bengal 😀You will definitely like it better than any other cities in India. This city really goes easy on foreigners 😅 if you can't trust me you can watch some of your fellow vloggers from US (Daily Max, World Nomac) or UK or other parts of Europe who have visited Kolkata and other parts of WB recently. You will see a whole different culture, you will find a more calmer and more sweeter part of India. And by sweet I really mean sweets from sweet shops that will increase your sugar levels 🤣. In the north of our state WB we have Darjeeling Queen of hills and Himalayas you can't and shouldn't miss. Pro Tip: Don't Visit Kolkata or WB during Durga Puja Festival (depends from September end- October end) if you are traveling for the first time. Because the whole state goes into a festive mood with pandal hopping so you are going to miss out the touristy things because roads will be blocked and you will find million people on the road just walking for miles. It's a different euphoria and should be done on 2nd visit 😂 only

Hi Phoebe, I am an accidental follower of you :). I was searching for Ghan experience videos and stumbled on your channel. I feel ver yembarassed to hear from you that you had some bad experience with men in India. I am an Indian and feel ashamed that you had to face this. I enjoy watching your videos and glad that you had been to India. Kerala is really God's Own Country and a very safe place for international tourists. I am happy that you enjoyed your time there.

The golden triangle tour is definitely not a good idea for first time foreigners. For first timers i always recommend the south, northeast and the far north like Kashmir, Laddakh, Himachal etc. Delhi isn't even worth it, Rajasthan is GREAT tho with a well planned trip. Mumbai is also amazing, the elora caves and so on.

Hi Phoebe, discovered your video just in time! I’m going to explore Udaipur on our own in October. May I ask (1) how I can do the boat ride? (I want to stop at the little island with elephant sculptures that you did too. Do I need to book the boat ride tickets in advance so that I can do the sunset ride? Where can I board the boar ride?)
