For shits and giggles I decided to see if I went for the value of a gold doubloon coin based on its weight in gold it would be 6,766 grams of gold or about 430,665.90 in TODAY November 18, 2023 gold prices. So even in that scenario still not worth a million dollars. Now if those one thousand doubloons were valued as historic coins from the era well it might get to higher value but theirs only so far I'd go in estimating without knowing condition of said doubloons...

# 0001 That was the one thing I hated about the Duel Monster series. Mako out of all the rivals, the most decent person amongst them, didn't get any semblance of closure. Like not even a 3 or 4 part mini arc to see if he ever finds his father. Yugioh did Mako so dirty imo

In the Japanese version, the admiral challenges Judai (Jaden) to a [static interference]mi no duel. Judai assumes he means yami no duel (dark), only to find out that he's been saying umi no duel (ocean) this whole time. Crunchyroll's subtitles called it a "shark duel" because it rhymes with "dark duel" (or "...ark duel" during the static interference). 4Kids just dropped the wordplay entirely.

Maybe Crunchyroll should have called it a "filler arc duel." It still rhymes with "dark duel." Then again, this is more of a filler episode than an arc. GX has a lot of those scattered throughout the Sacred Beast Arc, such as the Duel Monster cosplay episode.

Lunch break actually refers to Chumley's break from lunch. It is during this brief respite that the other students can eat and try to scavenge calories and nutrition. Chumley uses the hour where he isn't eating lunch hunting for food. He had a lead on a big sub but it turned out to just be an actual submarine. This can all be found in the 4th Chumley omnibus which is a great companion to the show due to insights like this and the licious or not licious list

Very pleased to see a faster turn around on this release. This episode is some peak GX filler, I much prefer this style of small filler unrelated to the main storyline to full filler arcs like you see in Naruto or original Yugioh.

The only bad Filler arc in original Yugioh was the KC Grand Prix Filler arc. The Oricalchos and Big Five Filler arcs were better than Filler arcs in other anime like Naruto.

Ahh, I used a levia dragon daedalus deck back in the day, and I was always faintly miffed that the show only ever used the archetype with a once-off character with a vibe that I didn't personally connect with. But in hindsight, it's kinda nice the deck got any level of recognition at all, given that it wasn't a full-fledged archetype.

There is the cowboy duel disk in Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds which is pretty cool but it's only used for one arc

As GX went on everybody got fancy duel disks and by the end of season 4 (either Duel Academy is a 4 year course or spending half the school year in another dimension messed up the ability to actually progress classes, resulting in a need for characters to repeat a year) the final year students are still using generic duel disjs, but these have a coloured trim matching the dorm/uniform colour. Shame we never saw such things again with Zexal, Arc-V and Vraibs using a projection instead of a physical section that can be customised. Sevens was also pretty bad with Rush Duels all using the same generic Duel Disk that changes into the form of a 7.

5d's in general has quite a lot of variation in duel disks, but most of it's quite subtle in colour and shape. and of course they're not shown off much bc the show's too busy with yugioh's longstanding motorcycle fetish coming to its zenith.

I can't believe you made me do research into this. Doubloons were worth $16 at the time they were minted, but these days are worth way more. Only 7 are known to still exist and are valued at at least $1m. 1000 could be worth anywhere from $1b to $10b. Though, if 1000 were found, the price would probably go down. However, I bet he was referring to the cryptocurrency, which is worth $0.0004, so he was offering him 40 cents. Anyway, I love your stuff. Keep it up!

Ok no joke: this is one of my top yugioh episodes of any of the anime’s: I love the comedy in this episode (everything about the admiral, the Great one liners and the melodrama with Syrus) I love the duel: it’s pretty tense and the admiral is such a fun duelist to see with a great water deck The atmosphere of dueling underwater is awesome and the orca monster is one of my favourite monsters in all of yugioh. Theres a lot of fun moments with bastion (my favourite character aside from chazz) And I think there’s just a lot of fun to this episode
