I make and sell onion bread to a local restaurant. They feature my bread on 5 of their sandwiches. They make an incredibly delicious BLT. There is nothing better than homemade bread. Delicious!

How much do you sell your bread for? And how much of the onion bread do you make at a time? And I'm woundering if you are willing to share your recipe?
@karenkilby41398 ай бұрын
@1nicenurse do you plan to sell bread? We have the friends and family discount so I don't know what is a good price to charge. the restaurant keeps me busy enough, they sell 50/60 loaves a month. That's a lot of sandwiches, lol. I created this recipe based on my machine - zojirushi 2lb loaf white setting, my preference is the darker crust setting. 1 diced or shredded raw onion 1 1/3 cup liquid .. may need to add liquid depending on the onion used 2 tsp salt 2 tbls sugar 4 1/4 cups flour 2 tsp yeast

Renae, your constant reminder to start out slow brings to mind my brain fart when making frosting. I was in a hurry and yep I had my mixer on high! It looked like a powdered sugar plant blew up all over me and the kitchen. I was laughing so hard my husband came to check on me. One look and he noped right out of there. I bake all the time. I knew better. But I guarantee you I haven't done it since 😂

Guess who will be watching. Years ago I read about a lady in my guidepost who didn’t know how long to knead her bread. Then she said she figured out how to knead it. Just the length of her saying the Lord’s Prayer. That has always stuck with me.

While waiting for today's video, I went and watched a video from 11 months ago. In this video you taught us how to make home made hash browns. To make the hash browns you used your hand grater and then to make the shape you used the bottom of your grater which is a rectangle shape and pressed out PERFECT hash browns!!!!😮😂❤ What an ingenious idea!!!! A couple of us viewers recently mentioned you doing a video on tips and tricks that you had an idea doing. I love this idea as so many of us agree and would love to see this! ....Wow, perfect potatoes, no preservatives, and easy to do!!! I just love being in your kitchen with you. Oh my gosh, Renae, I am in awe of you. You are an amazing bread baker. I don't know what my problem is, I'm thinking it's my oven possibly. My breads come out super heavy and I follow the recipes to a T. The birds love me cause they get most of my fails. I've tried three different yeasts, different flour brands, different pans and it all comes out the same, heavy dense bread. My dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls come out so nice and fluffy but the breads are always a failure.Thank you for making this video. It was therapeutic for me!

Actually I was noticing how easily Renae handled her bread dough, no flour on the board and it didn't stick to her hands. Mine always does. Maybe my doughs are too wet. @@melindawargowsky8176
@suesmith43258 ай бұрын
@@jamesriggs1926No, I don't, James. I aim for it to be sticky because I've heard a lot of people refer to the dough being a bit sticky. I've noticed that when making anything like french bread or hoagie buns they just flatten out after rising I guess because they are too soft. It really shouldn't be that difficult for me but it is. Out of all the years I have been baking I have never had a successful loaf of white bread. And that is what I want the most. I am living vicariously through Renae watching her wizardry with making bread.

I saw a gal on tv say that 1 cup of flour should weigh 5 oz. I started weighing instead of measuring and it was a game changer for me! My bread came out way better and consistent. My muffins and other baked goods as well. I need to move on to weighing in grams because it's more accurate.

Wow, what a wonderful, informative video, Renae. I need to start making my own (dark) rye bread since none of my local bakeries or stores carry it in a non-sliced loaf. We love some pumpernickel bread with our spinach dip....which I make at Christmas and upon request other times of the year. I'll have to try out your recipe. By any chance have you ever had/tried the Garlic Asiago bread from Bay Bread Company (across the street from the west bay in Traverse City)? OMG, it is absolutely wonderful and makes for a delicious piece of toast with butter. I'm just wondering if you could come up with a taste-alike bread recipe. I would surely be making THAT recipe! Oh, just as an FYI, the last I knew, you could actually buy the Garlic Asiago bread at Sam's Club too.....also made by Bay Bread Company.
