Seeing Nick become an anime antagonist was terrifying. Zach(Zack? Zak?)'s arc was inspiring as he slowly started to make a comeback. But when expectations were subverted, and the villain won in a story for the first time ever, that's when I knew this video was storytelling genius. Also the sponsorship sketch was great.

I have a lot of ideas, so I'm gonna TL;DR them at the top. TL;DR: Rosters - Land on character, win fight, get character, can play whenever. Dispute - Land on opponent's character, win fight, take character from them Mirror Match - Dispute + Winner can't lose property for a while 4 Player Multiplayer - If 2+ people land on a space, they fight each other, then fight anyone else. Team Monopoly - Red vs Blue, 2v2, first to 3 sets wins, roster is shared. Board Changes - Change the RRs to DLC Packs 1 and 2 cut in half each, remove DLC characters from board. Free Parking - Free choice, if you choose owned character = roll 1 die + choose the other die roll GO - Act as if you landed anywhere on the board for that turn. Rosters and Disputes If you own a character, they are in your roster. You can only gain unowned properties by playing the character on them, but you are not forced into it. This means if your opponent is going to get a set and you aren't, you can use your preferred character to deal with them or you can go for a cheeky property. Disputes prevent the game from stalemating because someone goes Rainbow. If you land on an opponent's property, you have the right to challenge ownership. You do this by choosing the character on the property. The owner has two choices: A Normal Match: If they choose the character they landed on, they get the property assuming they win, if they lose, the challenger gets the property. No bullshit, no fuss, no mess. Mirror Match, which if they do brings greater risk for greater reward. In a Mirror Match, if the owner wins, they cannot have that property stolen for a single turn (or until you pass it if this is a two player game) however, the inverse is true if the person challenging the owner wins. So if you win a mirror match, the property cannot be taken from you by ANY MEANS until the next time it is your turn or the next time the opponent passes the space. Other potential additions include: Multiplayer Rules: Each turn, everyone rolls, if two or more people land on the same space, they all fight each other first. This prevents a situation where three players land on the same space and beat each other up allowing a fourth person to win because they didn't roll the same as anyone else. Otherwise, it is four player Battle Royale, Winner takes their space. You can also do Teams where each player is Red or Blue team and their characters count for their team, first to three sets wins, roster is shared and if they both land on the same spot, they fight together as the character. Board Rebalancing: Remove DLC characters from the board and split them up by DLC Pass 1 and 2, first half and second half. First one is DLC1 (1/2) and the last one is DLC2 (2/2) - This means that Railroads become inherently more useful to counter balance the fact that they are quite literally evenly spaced around the entire board. You could even make it a "Pick 2" spot where you get to choose your two to add to the roster. Change the Utilities to Echo Fighters such as Simon and Richter (Pit and Dark Pit or Palutena if you wanted to break away from Echoes/Samus and Dark Samus would also work) and so on. Free Parking shouldn't be a free character, it should be a free choice. Free random characters with no fight would just hurt the experience, so make it a match where you get to choose any character, regardless of Roster Ownership. Wanna play Beyonetta even if she isn't on the board? Why not, you get a free choice. If you choose a character already in your roster, I'd say you only roll 1 die and get to choose exactly what the other die rolls. Finally: Landing on GO allows you to choose a character on the board and act as if you landed there for that turn only. You win? You get the space. You lose? You landed on Go, it's fine.

i have an idea for an enhancement you have to get 2 sets to win, but there are two bonus rules as a part of this 1. the first set you take, you get a one-time replacement for all 3 characters. so for instance, if you have a match with an incredibly bad matchup (ganon vs literally any zoner ever) you could replace that bad character with somebody less incompetent. you also get an additional replacement if you win on an income tax or super tax space 2. upon reaching 2 sets, every round you will fight your opponent with one of the 6 characters you have. if you lose, then the opponent gets another turn BUT if you win one round you win the game the second rule is definitely way less important than the first

as a kid, we would have this house rule where you couldn't land on each other's property until everyone had at least a couple of properties already, since starting off landing on other people's property will fuck your game for the rest of the match and it was never enjoyable to be on that position, so every time someone rolled the dice and landed on somebody else's already owned property they would simply roll again until they landed on a property to buy. It would make the games faster and less crazy with RNG, on top of making deals a lot smoother. We played it to have fun, not to crush each other's spirits, so it was more like a social lubricant than actually anything competitive. Playing more matches always felt like it was way more fun than just dragging a single one out for hours after the winner was already decided on the first few moves.

I think it should be handled like this: - All the Rules in the Video apply, but: - The game ends only when one player has no properties left, not when they complete a set - You get a random property when go over Go, not just when you land on it - Your properties cannot get stolen until every property is owned by a player (if your opponent lands on your property and loses they instead get a 50% handycap for the next battle if there are still open properties) - Once all properties are sold, the scramble over stealing begins - When you own all 3 (or 2) of a colour and you (or your opponent) lands on one of them, your opponent gets a 50% handycap (accumilative, if both then 100%) - You can actually trade properties (or even handycaps and such) consentually - you know, like in the hit game Monopoly I think this is closer to the original and also a more interesting video because all players get to build a portfolio and not just lose everthing immediately

Some rule update suggestions: First, since in the original game it's considered Free Parking, I'd argue that you can use any character you already own, and can't win or lose anything. Your opponent obviously can still win their character, but I feel that would make it more legit and feel better than having two spaces that just wins you a character outright. Second, I think if you modify Go so that it also functions similarly to the real game where you get a free character just for passing Go as opposed to needing to land on it that would also make things slightly more fair.

@little z I think the only rule that needs to change is that if you land on someone else's space, and you win, you steal that character from them. This wouldn't change the fact that if they win they get a random character from you, but you also won't be stuck getting nothing all the time if you start out badly. Also, if you land on tax, and you win, you should be able to steal a random character because they would be paying your tax. Maybe if you want to make it more dynamic, every time someone passes go, you add a modifier to the match (special smash) Maybe with free parking, the opponent gets to choose the free character the other gets since they don't even need to fight for it. If what I saw in the video was true. I think it would be more fun to have items in these games, even if you have they on very low spawn rate or if you select on specific items to appear. With more players it would be interesting to see if trading might be something worthwhile since it will probably be way harder to get a full set. If you roll doubles, you can choose to stay on the character you land on, or roll again and go for the next one. But after 3 doubles in a row you automatically go to Steve.

I have a fun idea to turn it into a real game. Everyone starts with less money. But it's regular Monopoly involving the smash characters. Replacing auction is to Battle! If nobody else goes to battle in a predetermined amount of rounds, then you instantly win the character. If other players join, by choice or Force, they are added to the battle as well and everyone is at Stakes are set. Some Community chests and chances will force you into battle with unowned or one of your properties. In multiplayer, you can also have Team Battle and boss battle. I got a lot more running through my head as well, I figured that would just be enough summary to help push the point of turning it to a regular Monopoly Style

For an idea to change up the ruleset to make it more balanced/fun (fit up to 4 players as well.) (Sorry for being so long) 1. Everyone gets one character (can be same or different from person to person) that they cannot lose. 2. Each player starts with a set amount of money, and has to land on and buy a property to get a new character. 3. After each round of everyone rolling, each player chooses one of their characters for a match, and money is given based off of placement in the match. 4. If a player lands on another players property, the person who landed on the space can choose to pay a set fee (like the amount to buy the character, or a character of their own if out of money) or can challange a dido match of the character space. If the lander wins, they get to steal the character, if the property owner wins, they get double money/characters. 5. Go gives the passing player some money, jail prevents a player from collecting rent/winning money from end of round matches (winning a match will instead let the player leave jail), on free space, players can choose to pay a fee to move to any space on the board. community chest get a random buff next match, chance get a random buff or debuff next match, railroad/ utilities are the same as normal properties, tax lose a character. 6. When a player has all properties of a color, the player gets double the stocks when using those characters (including defending properties matches.) 7. A Player is Out, when they run out of money and characters. Last Player Standing Wins.

Alright, I got an idea for how this can work better... I think this could work for any fighting game with a large enough roster (I think 22?) Everyone fights after every turn cycle, spaces dictate who you play as and what winning/losing results in In games that can only do 1v1 but you have 3 or 4 players, you'd have to sort of do a tournament style thing each round to declare 1 winner and the rest losers Property tiles all have the characters randomly slotted in (utility and railroad ignored) Everyone starts with a random owned character If you land on a property tile, you play as that character If the tile is unowned you can win it by winning the match If the tile is owned by an opponent, you can steal it by winning the match If the tile is owned by you, the opponent can take it from you if they win If you land on GO or Free Parking or Jail, you get to pick whatever character you want for the next match and the opponent cannot take it from you If you land on GO you get a random unowned character (unless none are available) If you land on Go To Jail, you must go to jail and pick RANDOM until you either win or 3 turns have passed, nobody can steal from you unless they are on one of your owned properties and win Railroads will function differently, upon landing on one, you can choose to stay or move your piece to any of the other railroads before your turn ends, then you must pick a character to play of the ones you own, the chosen character CAN be stolen if you lose Chance/Community Chest spaces will still give cards that have custom effects for the next round but will also make you pick a random owned character which CAN be stolen if you lose Tax gives one of your owned characters to the bank but then functions like free parking after that Luxury tax does the same BUT if you lose the character you picked goes to the bank as well If you land on a utility space, the opponent(s) must pick what character you play out of your owned characters, they can then steal that character from you If you own a full color set of characters, you can put a (limit 1 per property) house on any of the properties by selling one of any of your owned characters to the bank (except for ones from this set) A set of characters with any houses on them is protected, in the event that character would have been stolen, the house gets destroyed instead Running out of characters makes you go bankrupt and you lose

Chance space idea: Earthquake! You "accidentally" bump the board and all the pieces fall off. Pieces are placed on a random space and you play the respective character.

Suggested Monopoly Rules: --You and the other player each start with, say, five "properties (characters)" that are not on the board. This is your "money" --When you land on a character and win the battle, you can pay "money" (give up a character) to buy that property instead (gain the character) --If your opponent lands on your property and loses the battle, they pay you "Rent" (they choose a character to give you) --If you have a monopoly, you get an extra bonus (say, when you use this character you have two stocks, or if they use it they play with a handicap) --Tax works the same except that you don't get the property, the "bank" gets it. --Whoever goes bankrupt (out of characters) loses.

Monopoly is my favorite board game ever! I made my family play with me on my birthday (but I got out first unfortunately.) Anyway it was just super fun and enjoyable to watch each other's play as well. Now since Little Z added a smash Bros twist to it makes it really interesting. But I think if he was going all out for the Monopoly Man cosplay he should have sprayed his mustache white. Anyway still very entertaining to watch. this one would be a major rules revamp(and would be better on a group of 3 or 4. later i’ll comment a different ruleset that is more ‘light’ and in-keeping with the original rules in this video as a “at the very least- these small changes”....but the following is “if possible, consider these big changes, they might seem like a lot, but i think it’d make for an awesome/intense monopoly game to watch from you guys. it might seem like a lot, but i think once you learn the rules you’ll get the rythm of it”): start it with either the Eco characters or low tiers (a pichu, a Mew two, a doctor mario, a daisy, ect. stuff that isn’t crazy and won’t be used in the board). you start with 2 or 1 of these,(haven’t done the math on how many would be available with these rules, if it’s too few then just repeat them- everyone has a “Dr.Mario” and “Pichu”) the bare structure/gameplay-loop is the same: at the start of a turn, you figure out were you land, at the end, you fight, and can win or loose something depending on were you had landed that turn. the end of the fight is the end of the turn. changes(a handful of them, i said it’s a hard revamp): when you land on a free space, you choose the characters you have available at the end of the round, if you win that round, THEN you win the free property/character. you loose a character if you land on a player property, or if a player lands on yours.(either way, you don’t gain their character. if you win then they simply loose their property and it becomes free to take for the next person to land, if you loose you loose the character you fought them with... is it a little unfair for the person who landed on the property? well yea, you landed on their property, that’s bad new 101 in regular monopoly). the player who’s property you landed on can defend using any of their characters. if you land on another player’s full set, and you loose at the end of the turn, not only do you loose the character you chose to fight with, but you loose 1 additional random character.(if they are property, they are simply free for the taking). the number of characters you loose increases the more number of total sets the player has.(if they have the red, purple, green and blue set, and you land on the blue, you loose the character you fought with + 3 random ones, so long as yoy loose the end of the turn. if they have 1 yellow and you land on it, you only loose the 1 character you choose to fight as.) if you loose all your characters you loose the game. having full set of properties also gives you a bonus character (Cloud and Sephiroth give Sora, Ken and Ryu give either Min Min or Kazuya, pokemon Trainer Pikachu and jiggelly puff give Green ninja, fox and falcon can give Wolf, or the three can give lucario or duck hunt idk. point is, each set will give you a good extra charater- loosing one of the properties also makes you loose the extra character). this has to scale based on how far up the board it is, such as changing link for toon link and making BoT Link the extra character. if you land on your owned character’s property, you have to play that character, but you won’t loose it (unless as stated earlier, if a player had landed on that same property, winning that would make it so you loose the property at the end of the turn if you loose. to clarify: the player still doesn’t steal it when they win, sense it’s just been freed for the new turn, it’s only _Now_ free to grab) extra rules: 1. you can trade characters. (either as a “bet”, were you accept the terms of a match and who ever wins wins the “trade”/“bet” wins the charater they wanted, or simply “trade me this for this”. these bets must take place before the end of the turn were everyone fights.) 2. if you loose/go bankrupt, your characters go to whomever made you loose your final property/character, and if not applicable(via you having landed on your own property or free property) then your properties go to the player who eliminated you on the match. 3. while in jail, you can only play a mii.(like- c’mon, jail is suppose to be annoying, if not convenient in the end-game. plus, it references Mii’s not having been accepted in the competitive scene). going from: Sword fighter, Brawler, and Gunner on each turn (then you are free if you still haven’t won). feel free to change the order of mii fighters for something more adequate. --- final note: keep the same rules for the chance time and the treasure chest, you have to play the character shown. if you win you get a random property. also- maybe make a better rolling/random character system. for example: if you loose in a full-set and so you loose 1 random character. maybe roll a number based on all the characters in smash(it’d take about 15 minutes to put it together. counting mythra and pyra as seperate numbers and echos as the following number of the character it’s based on), and the closest number to the number of a character you own, is the one you loose (if there’s a tie, the owner of the property chooses between the the tie.)
