@drenklafАй бұрын
I agree. First there was the PGA and then LIV. Two different animals. So in years from now (or now) who's got a great record? Who's the GOAT? How would you rate the players since LIV? For decades there's been the records of those that played FOUR rounds in a tournament in order to accumulate statistics. How can you compare? BTW... one of the reasons some walked/ran over to the other league was that it gave them more "family time"! What a crock! Lets cut to the chase, it was the MONEY baby, it was the MONEY! Odd how the NBA, MLB, NFL players didn't ask for "bigger and lower hoops", fewer innings and whiffle balls, more downs and shorter fields. AND all asking for half the games! Sounds stupid!? Damn right it does. But it's okay with golf because GUARANTEED MONEY TALKS! But they don't have a legacy! Hahahahahaha FOOLS, SUCKERS, FLAKES! Who was better Sammy Snead or Mhil Phickleson? Yeah, that's right!
@johnvillano30246 күн бұрын
Totally agree. LIV promotes mediocrity. They have guaranteed money. So they don’t care if they shoot a 99 or a 59. They are greedy baby losers. The PGA tour needs to grow some balls and tell them to kick rocks. You made your bed, now you have to lay in it. When the LIV tour completely falls apart, which it will. I would not let them rejoin the PGA tour. Go sell insurance. Screw them

OWGR is not relevant anymore. Cam is doing what Bryson is doing... push golf in your home country. As for the merger, I call this the Caitlin effect. The PGA knows the revenue of the gate is within reach so don't fritter away the opportunity like the WNBA. The merger will get done since reality has set in. The merger delay was for the PGA to acquire financial venture capital and redirect support among the players for the merger. Earlier Jay was in a weak position in dealing with PIF so needed time to enable him to hold better cards and get the key tour players in line. This will get done to avoid the Caitlin effect. The match in December with PGA vs LIV stars will open the door to finalizing an agreement. The PGA wants to see the ratings and quality of golf. The fans win in the end.

Hi guys..first id like to say I enjoy your podcast...you cant please everybody all the time but you do make quite a few valid points. The reason I'm sending this is not really to comment on the issues but to ask your opinion on something on my mind.. I recently watched the Queensland PGA competition played in Brisbane. and was quite annoyed at the media coverage ...not just the commentators but the TV coverage overall...and if possible ascertain your views on the subject. Ok..I was watching the TV coverage over the 4 days and was struck by the lack of coverage they afforded the winner Phoenix Campbell who won the event the previous year as an amateur and led the field for the first three days and virtually also the fourth day..less I think maybe one or two holes...yet the TV coverage on his playing was virtually minimal and no interviews after the first 3 days endings ...though other players were interviewed ... Well they had to interview him on the last day because he won...the point is why is the coverage so poor on this point...a friend of mine in the UK told me that what he did over the two years and leading the field like he did was some sort of serious record...if this is true I really question the medias coverage or lack of coverage ..I did ask Australian golf in a email but got no reply ...I dont blame them on that score as I was pretty sarcastic when I sent the email but I was soooo frustrated. I wonder ..if the aim is to promote golf is this the way the PGA should go? As an example I"m an avid fan of Formula One and watch the races every time...there they follow the first there cars routinely and also any developments in the fourth to 10th range and even cover the rest of the field continuously but always keep us aware of what the leaders are doing....two different sports but surely the golf media can do the same? Ok ..I know Cam Smith is very high on the world rankings and have no problem with him being interviewed but when the number one on the leader board is ignored the way he was beggars belief...is this good for golf? My question to you is ...given the scenario with PGA golf and LIV where would you suggest he goes if given the opportunity to do so? I ask out of interest due to your knowledge of the game as I have no way of contacting MR Campbell on his phone as I dont know it and he would no doubt perhaps not even take my call but I feel sad at the way he was treated overall.. until the end when they HAD to because he won... So yes ..what would be your advice be as to his direction in the future if you were him? Phil

WGR hasworked with all of the tours to get their play to count toward rankings but for some reason LIV can't come to agreement on a format that would qualify them for WGR. LIV's refusal to do what it takes to be part of it doesn't diminish what being ranked high will earn you. A new group of islamic dudes don't get to set the rules just because they paid a bunch of players to be with them. You missed what Sergio was saying about the WGR. Anyone would have to win lots of LIV tournaments to rank high because of the nature of their 54 hole format. Easier short tournaments aren't weighted as much as the traditional tournament format. So you have to win lots of LIV events to rank as high as someone who wins fewer PGA events.
