I just got my 2021 sportage here in Orlando Fl and I got the Nightfall edition in snow white and tan leather inside. I love it, its SO fun to drive!! The only thing I wish I had was a push start!

I’m really liking that Seltos but I’ll probably wait until 2022 or 2023 to see what issues pop up with the DCT in the SX turbo model and to see what changes in the trims with newer model year editions. I’d really like some aftermarket upgrades to become available too. Like the suspension lift seen in the nifty concept models shown by Kia.

Is there a clear winner between the two for potholes? Comparison on suspensions and tire sizes/sidewalls, please.

That's a tough question. On some cars, I would easily be able to answer your question. Both of these cars are comfortable without harshness in the suspension, however, they also both have a nice firm, in control feeling, to their ride. They ride a little differently, but I'm not sure that one or the other has a clear advantage over potholes etc. Both of these vehicles are definitely better than the previous generation of the Kia Sportage.

I always joke that you should test this like you test airbags. You DON'T!! :) We actually tried to make a video showing the system but there are a number of factors that can play into the car NOT stopping. If the car senses that you are in control, it may not operate. Also, the car will wait, and wait, and wait, before applying maximum braking pressure. The idea is that it will avoid a collision, but at the least it should minimize the collision. In most cases, you have to treat this like your airbags. Assume it's working unless a warning light comes on to tell you that it's not.

Do you know why we don't get many alternative interior colours in Canada? Korea gets a nice brown leather.

Don Currie We used to get brown leather in 2018. The short answer is that it wasn't a huge seller. Also, with the Kia Seltos in the lineup we're expecting to sell a few less Sportage's. Less volume tends to mean less trim lines. We've gained the dark wheels and sporty appearance of the S line models, but we've lost the brown leather. You win some. You lose some.

@@BrantfordKia Yeah, I'll get over it. :) That is good to know regarding the Seltos taking some sales from the Sportage. It makes a lot of sense. I like the powertrain for the SX trim, so I'll be happy to settle with black leather.

My personal opinion really doesn't matter. It all depends on which features matter most to you. I like some of the safety and technology features that the Seltos offers, and you can get more of those at a lower price. But the Sportage is a little bigger, it's capable of towing, it's available with a panoramic sunroof and more. It just depends on what you want.

Can a lens with a wider angle be installed in the rear? Is that lens swappable?

I don't think so. On the 2020 Soul, you can change the view to look straight down from the bumper, but I believe on this car, there is just one view, and I'm not aware of any hardware change that would work.

Steve Wise That car is likely still in the final stages of development. Keep in mind, we already have the K5, Sorento, and Sedona as unreleased vehicles coming over the next 6 months or so. Once those cars have been released, we'll begin hearing about the next wave of vehicles too. I'm especially interested to see what's under development as the next generation of EVs. There are a lot of things under development.

What are the missing buttons on the seltos for?

Good question. This car is sold around the world with differing levels of equipment. Sometimes there are features in other parts of the world that we don't have here. So usually those buttons are just for features in other markets. Sometimes they create space for a feature that Kia may add in a future generation. It's pretty common to see this in some of our vehicles.

I'm a huge fan of the Kia Seltos, but my priorities may be different than others in this class of vehicle. I want something that will comfortably fit my family of 4 and all of our gear. I love technology, safety features, fuel efficiency, and anytime I can save a little bit of money, that's great too. So for my priorities, the Seltos lines up perfectly with what I value. In my books the Seltos would be great. However if you need to tow, want a little bit more space, like the styling of the Sportage, want a panoramic moonroof, etc, then the Sportage is perfect for you!

I appreciate the info. Not in your area or I would have looked you up. I was looking at the Sportage but I think now I'm more inclined to look at the Seltos. Although you did a pretty good job of going over safety features, the most important is air bag tech and I saw zero comments on this phase of safety. You would think that people would know everything about this tech but for the most part people do not. 85% show, no under the power barn... A very good video with need for a little improvement.

In my experience, with millions of views on KZbin, I've never been asked a question about an airbag. I understand that may be important to you, but it's not something that seems to be a top priority for other people. I trust our airbags, and technology has certainly improved over the years with airbag technology, but I don't mention them because there are other technologies that require a greater explanation.

@@BrantfordKia Well here is the deal dude, you had better listen when a customer asks about Airbag technology, it changes all the time. In the 1970's Cadillac had Airbags that came from under the dash to protect the leg or knee area which is important. This type of airbag has not been seen since other then a few automobiles. I think although I don't know for certain the Hyundai Tuscon has it. Unlike your opinion knowing Airbag technology and what automobiles offer what in this category is paramount. You have to ask yourself this, do consumers want to know more about the radio or the Airbags. Smart consumers would like to know more about safety. A smart sales person will show smart technology and smart safety. It is what it is.. I'll add this I did purchase a Seltos because of your video, it was well done other than Airbag technology. Not interested in what you have heard, it's important.

That's such a personal thing. They have their similarities, so because we're a dealership, we invite people to compare them on their own. We may do some driving comparisons in the future, but we really want those types of things to be decided by the person who is buying.

It'll be interesting to see how the Sportage sells, given that the Seltos is close in size and has way more objective aesthetic. The sportage is is your generic blob of a crossover, let's see if Seltos cannibalizes sportage sales

The Seltos will, and already has cannibalized Sportage sales. To be honest, that's why Kia succeeds. So many other manufacturers won't make the best possible car they can, because they don't want it to hurt the sales of another car in their lineup. The Seltos is Kia putting their best foot forward. It has tech in it that even the Telluride doesn't have. Each successive redesign is challenged to be the best vehicle in the segment regardless of what's next to it in the showroom, and that has lead Kia to building some really great cars.

2021 Seltos stands above in aesthetics, features, stunning appearance but since its a new concept and defiantly lacks the maturity of Sportage. I can understand why people would prefer Sportage.

Oh, for sure. They're each going to have their buyers. For people wanting a nice AWD, small, efficient crossover, you can't beat the Seltos, but the Sportage is going to have a little more capability, especially when it comes to towing, a bit more cargo space, and the availability of the amazing panoramic sunroof.

lmportant omission....... the Sportage dash and doors are soft touch as opposed to the hard plastic on the Seltos !!

Not necessarily. The Sportage LX and Seltos LX have hard plastic armrests on the doors, while the higher trims have soft-touch armrests.

Not in Canada. Here it is "not rated to tow" and therefore I can't recommend towing with it. I realize that other markets may be different, but we have to speak for the cars that we have in our videos.
