My mom and my dad both just stopped breathing when they died. It was very peaceful for both.

Love hearing everyone's questions and your explanation. My mom passed away 2 years ago. She struggling (tossing back and forth) as if she was dealing with something for over 30 min. I wasn't sure what to do, after the struggle, she started the breathing process and calmed down and passed peacefully. I always wanted to understand why she tossed and turned for those 30 min. Not sure if you have seen that before.

Hi Julie. You are such a blessing. I lost my mom a year ago from Frontal Temporal Dementia. It was so hard at the end but seeing your videos helped me. She stopped eating and drinking, couldn’t walk anymore and communicating. She went into hospice at her facility and it was so hard seeing her lay there completely out of it but would occasionally grunt and cringe like she was in pain. Her last day her eyes were clouded over and she just laid there. I stayed with her the whole day and then went home and within an hour of going home she passed away. Is it true sometimes people keep themselves from passing away (as if she waited for me to leave then let herself pass). I came right back and laid with her talking into her ear that I love her and to tell my dad and brother I love them to. I waited until the funeral home picked her up.

My husband just died today while on hospice from the primary dx of CHF. The on call nurse was surprised by how well I could explain the last 24 hours (all the signs like secretions, visioning, the stare, the death rattle come, and knew he died. Our assigned nurse hadnt told us any of them as she didnt think he was to this point yet as his blood pressure was still too high. So I told her I had learned from your videos. So that you.

Thank you for your good work. A hospice nurse told my brother that she has seen a light come out of a person's eyes as they are dying. Have you ever seen that?

Hi Julie…my mother in law passed away today and I kept all your advice and wisdom in mind as we saw her twitching throughout the day with agonal breathing. She was given some Ativan which kept her twitching down some, but she didn’t ever appear to be in any sort of discomfort. Thank you for posting these extremely important videos. You are helping so many people through what would be a very painful experience for anyone watching as a loved one dies.

My mother has ischemic microvascular disease in her brain she is only 56 she will be 57 on June 26 and her memory is starting to fade i am so upset because i am an only child I myself am in palliative care. I have been diagnosed last January 2023 with osteogenesis imperfecta, and Vascular Ehlers Danlos syndrome; I recently found out I have a block in my heart and when I had a trans thoracic echocardiogram which shows a blockage in my aorta the medical term is Mildly enlarged Sinus of Valsalva (3.8 cm) means an abnormal dilatation of the aortic root located between the aortic valve annulus and the sinotubular junction so I am in palliative care I don’t know how much time I have keep getting more and more bad news every time I go to the doctor. I am in a lot of pain but I am on lot of strong pain medication which is xtampsa er 27mg one twice daily and hydromorphone as needed for break through pain and Mobic 15 mg as I have been suffering with pins & needles that are severe pain but narcotics do not work for nerve pain so the mobic helps so much and I have the pins and needles that are in all extremities and low back and hands.

Hi Julie, I have a question for you about esophageal cancer and hospice. My father in law is just about to go into hospice. His intestine is shutting down. Is this common? What can we expect from here forward? His wife and him are in total denial

Evening, I’m struggling with watching my dad die slowly. He’s been from hospital to rehab several times since December 2. He has a multiple of issues and his recent stay at the hospital was acute renal failure. We are preparing for his to go back to rehab as they have him, “stable.” He can not receive hospice as the cost out of pocket on Medicare to stay in the facility is not doable. We have filed paper work for Medicaid as they will allow for hospice. He’s so tired, and his mind is going rapidly. He’s not recognizing me on first sight or conversation anymore. I want some kind of prognosis as far as, what to expect, or how long does he have? But it seems to be an ignored subject from the doctors. I’d like to know how to prepare other family members, and grandchildren.

Can you tell us what you can expect when someone dies of sepsis? Is getting sepsis from a UTI in older people seen often?

Hi Julie My husband died 2 years ago. He was at home with me. He started to breath where he would take a breath and stop but as this was happening he said help me I can't breath. This was the one thing he was afraid of. I am having difficulty living with that. I didn't know what to do. Is this common for someone to say before they die. Please advise me so I can try to move on.
