Thanks for the live stream and discussion of the Beatles 1964 reissues! I didn't buy the box set, but I purchased all six titles individually. I really wanted to like this release, and I'm happy that they put it out. I do have all of the originals on Mono and Stereo and aside from some surface noise, all of my original 1964 pressings are pressed flat and sound pretty good, considering the age. The upside about the new pressings is that the vinyl is pretty clean and the vinyl is quiet. Unfortunately there are other issues with the copies that I purchased. Mostly warping on some of the discs and some distortion. Maybe in a future live stream this set can be discussed if you or Michael T end up picking up more of the releases. I'd be interested to hear about the pressing quality. It seems that some people received really nice pressings, and others have quality control issues. I might return / exchange some of mine, but I might end up with the same problems or worse, so I'm hesitant. Maybe I just had bad luck? Here is a summary of each album with quality comments for each disc. For what it's worth, my copy of The Early Beatles was the best overall as far as pressing issues go. Meet The Beatles! Side 1 - Dish warped and some inner groove distortion Side 2 - Off centered and distorted The Beatles’ Second Album Side 1 - Warped disc and scratching sound at the start of track 1 Side 2 - Warped disc but plays and sounds OK A Hard Day's Night (Original Motion Picture Sound Track) Side 1 - Warped Side 2 - Debris with tick sound at the end of track 5 Something New Side 1 - Pretty flat and plays well Side 2 - Off centered Beatles ’65 Side 1 - Good sound and pressing Side 2 - Slightly Off centered and some distortion The Early Beatles - Best overall pressing quality and good sound Side 1 - Pretty flat disc - Good Pressing Side 2 - Pretty flat disc - Good Pressing

@@stevewestman7774 Thanks Steve! Of all the issues it's the warping and some of the off centered sides that bother me. The albums all play through without skipping and sound "good enough", considering the generation of the source tapes. My Rega P3 tracks all of them pretty well, but I just don't like seeing the cartridge going up and down over the warps or swaying back and forth on the sides that are off centered. Just not sure if I should roll the dice and end up with different or worse issues. The ones that I have now I can tolerate even if it's not the upgrade I was expecting. Jackets and labels are nice though! Makes me wonder what the effect on the tracking angle is if the stylus is going up and down 2mm on some of these. The other thing I wonder is if there is a quality control variation between the boxed versions and the individual releases. I know they were pressed at the same place, but perhaps more care was spent on the boxed versions, or they were pressed first. From other reviews on KZbin, I know that both Mazzy and Michael Fremer seemed happy with the pressing quality, but they each reviewed boxed sets, and not the individual releases.

@ I think it is acceptable to say what equipment you have and to describe its sound characteristics. However, only give the price if asked.

I have some Beatles like Beatles 1965 that were issued on the purple Capitol label in 1979/1980. Those actually sound pretty good, perhaps better than the original rainbow Capitol release which I also have and compared. Wally T did the mastering and if you have those, it makes this a better comparison with new box set. I didn't get the box but might get a few titles from it. Glad to learn your interviewing Kevin and Bruce Botnick Steve, that should be interesting. To me the UK Beatles is still the go to issues.

How do you like the speed control on that Pure Fidelity? Have the same turn table but the older speed control…debating upgrading

I love it. When you press the speed control button it will flash and will go solid when the TT is at full speed so you when to drop the needle. Neat feature.

Rhino and Patrick should be happy the Doors box sold well because they’re probably sitting on so many copies of their past few HFi releases. Maybe they’ll make better choices in the coming months.

Now that I have and love The Beatles 1964 US Box Set Mono and the Roll Stones Mono Box Set. I would love to see a British Invasion 64-65 US Mono Box Set to complete the era. It might include a Book on the British Invasion and any subset of these: The Dave Clark Five "American Tour US" 1964 Mono The Searchers "Needles & Pins" US 1964 Mono The Hollies "Here I Go Again" US 1964 Mono The Animals "The Animals" US 1964 Mono The Kinks "You Really Got Me" 1964 US Mono The Yardbirds "For Your Love" 1965 US Mono The Byrds "Mr. Tambourine Man" 1965 Mono The Zombies "The Zombies" 1965 US Mono The Turtles "It Ain’t Me Babe" 1965 Mono That would be one Heck of a GREAT BOX SET.
