Regardless what bait you use, if you are catching fish it's a Win/Win situation way to go Brent!

Good idea for a test, but I wish you had a friend with you to keep the live bait pole in his hand ready for a strike and also to move it around more to be fair. The artificial covered a lot more area and you had the pole in your hand ready for the strike. I think I counted 3 missed bites on the live bait due to not holding the pole. Still fun to watch as your videos are always smooth and easy to stay tuned to the end. Thanks....

Brad Doe I didn’t want the fully video but getting a strike should count as a point on live bait. Same for artificial even if he didn’t end of catching it
@hughj.57625 жыл бұрын
I tend to catch more fish on the artificials because I cover more ground but I usually get bigger and better quality fish on live bait.

I wonder how cut bait would have fared in the competition.
@Sunny455535 жыл бұрын
Cut bait with or without circle hook would out fish all especially crab baits, (over 20 years as coastal fisherman)

Haven't watched the video yet, but I'm predicting the live pilchards will DOMINATE this challenge. Gonna watch the video now.

Hi Brent, would you go with a 1/0 or 2/0 in general for live bait if you had to choose? Trying to set up my first saltwater tackle box. Any recommendations on weights as well? Thanks for any advice. Also what leeder size would you recommend for inshore/beach fishing with 3000 size reel with 15lb braid
@SeeYaDude4 жыл бұрын
Hook size really depends on the size of live bait that you're using. You don't want to weigh down a smaller bait with a big hook because it wouldn't swim naturally. The majority of the time I'm fishing a 2/0 circle hook with live bait. For weights, I'd recommend getting a package of split shots because they're using to use and add more if needed. For leader, I find myself using either 20lb or 30lb depending on the size and species of fish I'm targeting

I’m thinking about getting the pole holder Accessory for my yeti. I think that would be a good solution for putting second rod down in the front of the boat.
@SeeYaDude5 жыл бұрын
I have that rod holder accessory stored away somewhere and I completely forgot I had it. Thank you for reminding me because I'll definitely use that if I can find it

How much difference in the DOA Cal and the 3"zman ? We don't get the DOA CAL in Australia...What depth are you fishing 1/8 would come straight to the top or are you able to work it very slow
@SeeYaDude5 жыл бұрын
I've never tried the 3" Z-man, but they're look like pretty similar lures. I'm fishing in about 1'-4' of water and either working it slow and bouncing it off the bottom or a slow steady retrieve

I gotta ask, why do you always release your fishes? For example trout is a nice tasting fish!
@SeeYaDude5 жыл бұрын
Here in Tampa Bay we got hit with red tide about a year ago now and it hurt the trout, redfish, and snook populations so the FWC closed the season for them until 2020 to let their numbers recover a little bit

Just an opinion.. to be more fair both baits should be fished the same. Eg.. both under a cork. A live bait requires the same amount of attention and movement as an artificial bait to be most effective.
@Victorkayak5 жыл бұрын
But you’re right sometimes is life bait and sometimes is Artificial 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Try livebait video where you switch the hook placement, see if nose hooking, belly hooking, or shoulder hooking has different/more results..... EDIT: but bring me on board instead of Jordan this time lol

You're fishing the artificial bait more aggressively and just letting the live bait sit in the same spot. Odds are that you'll find more fish with the artificial because you're covering more water.

This is a bad experiment, he leave the live bait rod on his feet, the cast and reel artificial bait. It’s obvious that the artificial will win.
